2013 Preseason and regular polls

. Even though it was Aaron Murray's ineptitude.

I'm the first person to tell you that UGA is fighting simply to play on New Years Day. They have no business being in BCS discussions.
But the quoted statement is complete crap, garbage of the highest level.

For the past three weeks Murray has played without:
RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3

To offer a clearer picture of what that means (since you clearly aren't a deep thinker) imagine what would happen to Ohio State if all of a sudden:

Hyde is gone
Hall is gone

Devin Smith is gone
Philly Brown is gone
Evan Spencer is gone.

How effective would Braxton be if that happened? 10 touchdowns in your last three games just disappeared.

If you don't like Murray or don't think he can win the big one, I wouldn't be this argumentative. I couldn't be!
But don't confuse ineptitude with lack of resources. Murray had zero bullets left in the chamber over the past three weeks. The talking heads that mention this don't show bias. It's logical analysis.

Dontre Wilson and Rod Smith pick up the slack.

Jeff Heurman and Chris Fields come up.

Oh and we'll do it without Braxton because he got injured too.

Not really a fair question for tOSU. RB depth is amazing. We already proved that we have the best backup QB in CFB. I'm assuming we have some depth at WR, but performance would take a hit. tOSU is much more of a running team than UGA so that would help cover the loss at WR. I would hate to see any of this happen, but I think tOSU would be able to ride it out better than UGA is doing. Hyde is absolutely critical to tOSU having a shot at the BCS.

Looking at the polls tOSU needs MSU to win out and scUM to win out except for MSU to help us end the season against 2 ranked teams. We really need style point scores for the rest of the season. It might actually help perception against teams like scUM and MSU. We just have to count on at least 2 of the teams in front of us losing, which always seems to happen and tOSU playing well enough to keep from getting passed by anyone else.

It's bias when the talking heads don't afford the same excuses to a team like Northwestern, who has been suffering from its own slew of injuries at the same time that its season has spun out of control.

In 2007 Ohio State lost its Heisman-winning quarterback, its 1,000+ yard running back, and top 3 wide receivers, and STILL made it to the national championship game.
Did you have six first year starters on defense? Cause we're doing that too.

And graduating a player isn't the same as having one throughout camp, the first four games of the season and then having him eliminated from all future game plans.

In one scenario you're preparing and crafting game plans the entire off-season to accommodate the new players strengths/weaknesses. In the other, you have 5 days to adjust.
I don't think they are comparable at all.

Ohio State had 12 first-year starters on defense in 2007.

Don't you read Penn State boards? Ohio State doesn't graduate players. Ever.

I'm really just joking around with you. Injuries aren't easy to recover from for many or most teams. Maybe all teams. Bork - just one freshman running back on Ohio State's side of the ball in 2002 was the difference between a pretty good offense, and one that struggled against inferior teams. Of course, it can also be argued that Hyde didn't get made starter last year until Hall got hurt. Though, I think Hyde would have taken Hall's spot, eventually.

The loss to Missouri was all about Georgia's D giving up 21 points in the first half. Murray fumbling returned for a TD by the defense. And Murray throwing 2 interceptions in the 2nd half.
Georgia was able to run fine w/o Gurly, and they had WRs open. Murray's interceptions were not tipped balls or bad routes by the receivers -- they were mistakes on his part. Georgia was able to advance down the field when Murray wasn't turning the ball over.
The fact remains that it rests on him.

PS I find it hard to believe, given Conley's constant stats throughout the year, that he's only their 4th choice WR. I think you're exaggerating quite a bit there.
And actually, I think we do fine in that situation against a Vanderbilt. We've played significant portions of the season without Braxton, Hyde, Hall, Smith, Bryant, Washington, Schutt, Roby ... just off the top of my head. Unfortunately Vanderbilt pussied out of their game with us, otherwise I'd be able to say it definitively.

Forgive me for questioning your stat analysis - but I'll use the depth chart released by the coaches.
It clearly placed Mitchell (out since Clemson), and Scott-Wesley and Bennett ahead of Conley. His statistics are increased simply because he was promoted after the aforementioned injuries.

I know better than to question that. Per some of the AAU/Academic Wonks on BP - I'm a graduate of one of the lone schools that would even be considered for B1G memberships based on academics. :nerd::nerd::chest:

On a related note - the Dawgs have the top graduation rate in the SEC.

Depth charts change throughout the year and aren't always accurate.
In any case he outperformed (20/318/3) both Bennett (14/176/2) and Scott-Wesley (16/311/2) through the 5 weeks they played together. Regardless of where he's written on some sheet of paper (created for the media's benefit), the coaches certainly weren't afraid to put him in situations to perform.

As the games themselves have shown -- injuries aren't Georgia's problems.
Your Defense, Your Special Teams**, and Aaron Murray's own careless turnovers is what ales you.

**gave Vandy 14 points via a muffed return and chucking the ball over the punter's head
