It's a few days later, I'm actually surprised the news media hasn't made a deal about whether or not the two brothers' guns were legal or where they got them from.

I know news producers need to recycle stories or try to make old stories new, so that's why I'm surprised they haven't took that angle yet (since news people are always fighting for edges).

My wife is staying with her aunt in Watertown right now. Right now, I'm supposed to be on the road up there to meet her for the weekend.

Recap: I ended up watching the news all day on Friday, waiting for authorities to catch the remaining suspect so I could get up to Watertown and pick up my wife. When the authorities gave a press conference at about 5:30 and, amazingly, informed the public that they hadn't found the suspect and didn't know where he was, I decided to head on up to Boston, since the travel restrictions in and out of Watertown were lifted. By the time I got to Hartford, I received a call from my parents asking me if I was aware of what was unfolding. That was when I learned of the subsequent firefight and that police believed they had the remaining suspect pinned down in a boat on Franklin Street. Not being familiar with Watertown, I asked my parents to Google-map the location of the standoff in relation to the address where my wife was staying with my aunt. Turns out she was 4 blocks from where he'd been hiding in a boat all day.

Foolishly or fortunately, or maybe both, my wife and her aunt finally decided enough was enough and took advantage of the fact that the suspect seemed to be surrounded and the roads were still open. They got in the car and hightailed it out of there to a friend's house in Auburndale, where I ultimately picked her up. We stayed the remainder of the weekend with friends in Boston and had a great time. Friday was a surreal day, though.

Because the diplomatic ramifications of putting him to death would be far, far more expensive.

What diplomatic ramifications would those be?

He's not from a prominent Saudi family. The Russians don't care. Nobody gives a shit what the Chechans think.

If the Feds decide to pursue the death penalty it's not going to be much more than a blip on the radar for the anti-capital punishment peeps.

Did Boston bomber murder his 'only American friend' in horrific triple killing in 2011?

Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev may have murdered his 'only American friend' in an unsolved triple killing two years ago, it emerged today.

Brendan Mess had his 'throat slit' alongside two other men in a Massachusetts apartment in 2011 in what police described as a 'very graphic crime scene'.

Former associates of the Chechan immigrant didn't initially suspect him of carrying out the gruesome attack, but thought it was strange he didn't attend his friend's funeral.

Now one man who knew Tamerlan through the gym where they trained said some of their social circle 'without even speaking about it beforehand have all been thinking' he could be involved.

The friend, who gave his name only as Ray, told BuzzFeed Politics: 'At the time, none of us would have thought it was Tam.

'It was just so emotional and we thought we had someone else who had done it.'

But since Tamerlan was identified as the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings that killed three and injured 180, Ray believes his sudden disappearance after Mess's death may be a clue.

I think he meant that the Muslims will be up in arms in general. If I am wrong then yes, i agree with you. Fuck the Chechans.

We're currently bombing homes in Pakistan & Yemen. Executing someone of whom there is video leaving explosives that killed 3 and wounded scores more in a US city is not going to cause a sea change in opinion.

I don't give a fuck what Muslims think either...

OMGZ FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!

I was honestly hoping it was gonna be another McVeigh so I could call homeland security on every honky with a briefcase I saw.

I find it funny that on a site where we continually defend our fandom from the death threat emailing lunatic fringe, we have the audacity to speak out against Muslims.

We're a nation of hypersensitive, easily-offended crybabies, but even the most rock-ribbed among us can agree that a T-shirt with the words "Boston Massacre" might not be in the best taste these days.

I didn't say "Fuck Muslims", I said that I don't give a fuck what they think...just like I could care less about what Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, Buddists, Monks, et al, think.

I'm just saying that if we can't find reason enough to administer lethal injections to any of the other 400+ inmates at Florence, I doubt we're going to make an example out of a 19 year old Chechnyan kid that has by most accounts cooperated fully since being captured. Foreign terrorists are handled differently than domestics, and even then McVeigh was one of the exceptions. Who knows why we're still paying to keep Kaczynski, Nichols, Rudolph, and a boat load of other bombers alive.
