2013-2014 B1G Men's Basketball

The last B1G NCAA champion was Sparty in 2000. Since then, based on conference affiliation at the time:

ACC - 5 titles
Big East - 4 titles
SEC - 3 titles
Big XII - 1 title

MSU's title is the only one won by the B1G since 1989.

I didnt mean that they win the title but all of the teams typically over perform compared to their rankings and the conference season. I like our conference' chances.

I don't think the B1G is up to last year's performance.

Our Buckeyes getting beyond the Sweet 16 would be more of a surprise than a first round upset loss. Everyone seems to like Sparty but they have not impressed OOC. scUM are in first but they aren't the team they were last year. Wiscy will score about 46 points in their second round game and lose, again.

Nebraska might be playing the best ball in the conference right now and they aren't a lock to even make the tourney.

I think the Big Ten does have five teams that if they are at full strength have a legitimate shot at making the Sweet 16. No other league can really say that, I think that is what the B1G has to point towards to justify the attention they get this season. It's going to be difficult for any of these teams from the B1G to make the Final Four this season, because none of them have truly shown an ability to be head & shoulders better than their peers nationally, and certainly I wouldn't count on any of them making the F4, but that doesn't mean the league would have had a bad year so long as they get 4 teams to the Sweet 16 again.

MSU is still the best in the B1G. Problem is none of Payne, Appling or Izzo ever decide to show against UM.
HAHAHAHAHAHA, yea, yea they just "Decide" they do not want too show. What if the players at Michigan have a chip on there shoulder and decide to out show sparty?? Jesus Christ you are pathetic. Michigan has beat Michigan State , what?? 6 out of the last 7 times they have played??? Get a grip and come into reality. Even on the sparty board after today they are now acknlowedging the passing of the torch of the best bball program in Michigan.

In order to be the best, you have the beat the best, and Michigan has done that, end of story, end of your excuse game after game.

I am not a fan of making excuses for MSU. Izzo the drama queen loves to try to get people to sympathize with him and believe his team is better than it actually is. He always does that, every year he tries to make that perception out there that his team can be better and this year it's by having all these injuries that "hurt" his team's performance - I say it like that because he played Payne against OSU knowing damn well exactly what was wrong with him then and then decided to bench him conveniently as they entered a weaker portion of their schedule.

Right now UM and UW are the best teams in the Big Ten, and I'm not sure what order to put them in.

Throw in Nebraska (unreal as it seems) and we have an agreement. Each has some sort of wildcard that can propel them beyond expectation. And also end in short fashion. Just like this years OSU team. But mich has the talent edge this year.

Multiple question marks, incoherent sentences, misspellings, inability to understand the difference between "their" and "there," etc. Yep, pretty much everything that is to be expected out of a "Michigan Man."

That aside, pardon me if I don't believe in a team that was trucked at Iowa, trucked at home against Wisconsin, lost by double digits to Indiana (yes, Indiana), etc. Their front line is suspect, and their star player is rendered a non-factor whenever an opposing defense puts someone athletic on him or he decides he's not interested in the game.

UM seems to have MSU's number the past few seasons--it's nothing more. By the way--if you want to see real ownership, you should take a look at the MSU-UM football rivalry.

Badgers don't belong in the top two.

They're playing better than anyone in the Big Ten right now. They're on a 5-game winning streak that includes wins over each of the other top teams in the conference this year (MSU, UM, Iowa), and two of those wins are on the road. Hard to argue they're not THE top team right now, and it's laughable to suggest they're not in the top two right now.
