Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said Friday that the tumor doctors removed from his son's thyroid earlier this week was malignant. McCaffery's son Patrick, 14, had surgery in Iowa City on Wednesday, just hours before the Hawkeyes lost to Tennessee in the First Four of the NCAA tournament in Dayton, Ohio.

7 out of the last 11 championships have featured a BigTen team. Not that it means anything, just interesting.

I agree that it doesn't mean a whole lot, but I think it does mean something. It shows that the middle of the conference is strong. Also, it legitimizes our big tourney bids since the teams that don't make the tourney are obviously still quality teams.
