2013-2014 B1G Men's Basketball

I realize a bet was lost -- hence the costume -- but I still wouldn't put Rick Pitino next to someone in a chicken outfit, regardless if it's his son and it was a bet.

This is a little OT but in watching the Iowa/meatchicken one of the Iowa cheerleaders looked pretty intense and looked like a LB going for a QB kill. I wonder if he could get into TSUN or something because he looked that the world was going to come to an end if Iowa lost the game and this is when they were up by closed to 20.

I think I saw enough of the Pitino family last night that will last me a decade or so. Also what is going on with Tommy (HC of Indiana). When a player makes a turnover the next dead ball they might as well head to the bench because that is what he was doing last night. Too bad this game could not have ended in a tie because I like these teams so much:sick1:

Wiscy takes down Sparty at the buzzer, 60-58. Jackson hits the game winner. So many B1G games are basically toss ups this year.

Wow what a great game as Payne hits the 3 to tie it at 58 with 8 seconds left Jackson hits about a 15 foot pull up jump shot with 2 seconds left then Trice missed a half court shot off the rim that looked like it had a real chance to go in.

So now both teams are 9-2 had we just not lost to Penn State we would be sitting in a good spot at 7-4 tied for 3rd and 2 games back.

It is too bad that we will have to play MSU when they are at probably full strength with Dawson and Appling in all likelihood. All of these other teams are getting a little bit of a pass without those two guys and Payne before that.

Yeah, it's disappointing that none of the other B1G teams like Iowa have been able to take advantage of MSU when they've been shorthanded. Izzo actually knew Payne had his injury and still played him against OSU before starting the time when Payne sat out. But ultimately OSU has to blame themselves for losing the PSU game moreso than anything else.

I meant to post this yesterday after Indiana lost to PSU but forgot. I think that Indiana has quite a bit ofvery good talent, although a lot of them are young, it makes Me wonder how good of a coach the walking man really is. He seems to make substitutions like he needs something to do.. Also, I do not think his game management is very good. I know that he won a title last year but he also had 2#1 draft picks playing for him and when he was at Marquette he had that Wade (not the BP Wade) playing for him. I know that I would not want him coaching our Buckeyes

I give Crean a pass for this year. Name me ONE program that has had four 1,000 point scorers lost at the same time and made the tourney the year afterward. I don't think you can. That's why I think the criticism of Crean for this season is pointless. Nobody succeeds when dealt with the hand Crean had this year, not one coach out there. And I think it's foolish to blame Crean for recruiting guys who are talented enough to leave early and be drafted, because you take those guys even knowing they could leave early at any time and you will be unable to replace them right away considering getting guys with that kind of talent is how you go far in the tourney and win the Big Ten.

I did not say one word about recruiting guys who are going to be drafted after their freshman year. All I said was that I do not think he is that good of a coach and I do not particularly care for his game management. Just run up and down the court or jack up three-point shots. Not to mention his substitution patterns or whatever. I think you need to reread my post. I do not know maybe you are a big fan of his. I am not and I do not think that he is one of the better coaches in the Big Ten.

But you know what? Crean's coaching would suddenly look much better if Zeller and Oladipo didn't turn pro. He looks bad because he got caught in a bad spot this year due to those early entries combined with losing a couple senior starters from last year. Again, this year isn't one that is fair to rag on Crean because NO COACH succeeds in leading a team to the tournament when he loses four 1,000 point scorers at the same time. Not one.

I predicted before the season that IU wouldn't make the NCAA tournament this year, it was an easy pick because I knew they had a big rebuilding job on their hands. This IS a rebuilding year for IU, and no matter who was coaching them it would still be a rebuilding year - that's why I don't think it's right to use this season as a reason to be skeptical of Crean. Crean might not be the best coach out there, but this season no coach was going to work wonders with this squad and get them to the tournament.

Bah. It's never a bad year to rag on Tom Crean. He's a douche.
