2013-2014 B1G Men's Basketball

Payne is out, but Georgetown lost 5 straight coming into this one and Sparty has gone down at MSG.
It is like one of the commentators said that Georgetown got Michigan State at a very good time. They had just played two very tough emotional conference games and were sort of do for a big-time let down. I hated to see them lose because all the ESPNers will bring this up at the end of the season.

Never understood scheduling a game like this in the middle of the B1G.

People complain about Matta riding his 5 for long minutes, but I think I'd much prefer that to what Crean constantly does with his line-changes. Just took out 80% of his starting lineup and had 2 walk-ons on the floor for 2-3 minutes. Michigan goes on a run and takes a lead.

Guy is an awful coach.

Indiana held Stauskas to 1-for-6 shooting and about 12 points under his average.

That was a good win for the Hoosiers. Decent shooting from three (when comparing the two squads Sunday).
Ferrell was 7-8 from 3. The rest of the Hoosiers were 1-5. He literally willed them to victory, especially since he spent most of the game guarding Stauskas. And even though Rafferty talked about possibly Stauskas not feeling well, I wonder if the disease he had is called good defense.

I've seen UM play a lot this year, and today's UM seems closer to the real team than the one that's been getting lucky bounces and winning by a few buckets recently. The team has gaping holes in it, and if Beilein thinks a guy the talent of Caris Lavert should be leading the team in field goals attempted, then the talent level of this team isn't the only thing that UM fans should be worried about going forward.

Question--was Stauskas doing his typical punk moves like blowing kisses to the crowd with his whopping 6pt performance in his team's double-digit loss today?

Tough game. LeVert plays way to out of control at times. Indy did a solid job on Stauskas. I don't think he had more than one or two open looks all night. I hate losing to that douchebag Crean, but I'd rather lose now as opposed to rolling in to Columbus next week with a long winning streak on the line. Hopefully I can see a Michigan win this year. The next two games vs Nebraska and Iowa will be very telling before the osu game. osu could be on the rise now and UM could start falling back to Earth.

I think everyone was waiting for Michigan to lose a game, so you can say ha! told you so!! You crack me up, talking this way about the number 1 or 2 team in the big ten, then you must really think The big 10 sucks yea?

Which is why I'm surprised that Big Ten teams haven't figured out how to shut Stauskas down yet--he's a good shooter, but isn't athletic enough to create his own shot. To be honest, I think Michigan's 6-0 Big Ten record is a bunch of smoke and mirrors--four of those six wins have come by single-digit margins, and sooner or later, they will not get the timely bounce, timely shot, etc. Besides, now that McGary is out, their entire team basically consists of an unathletic guy who can shoot (Stauskas), an athletic guy who can't shoot (Hardaway), and a bunch of nobodies. If you guard Stauskas tightly and make Hardaway shoot over you, I don't see how this Michigan team could beat even a decent squad. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go on a significant losing streak at some point in the season.

McCaffery implements the game plan outlined above, and bingo--UM promptly get curb-stomped by Iowa. An athletic defender gets in Stauskas' face, and, predictably, his inability to beat anybody off the drive makes him a non-factor. Iowa challenges Robinson in to shooting outside shots, and, predictably, he goes 1-7 from the field, and is throwing up three pointers that hit nothing but the backboard. Oh, and for good measure, Horford and Morgan are airballing baby hooks, or hitting nothing but the backboard with them.

The only thing that remains an open question is whether michigan blueballz is going to crawl out of his hole.
