2013-14 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

This team has more than just a confidence problem. It is increasingly inefficient on offense. That 65th spot in floor percentage is going to drop after tonight's performance. There's no way to contend in the B1G, much less nationally, when you're heavily relying on transition to produce points. You have to be able to score in the half court as well.

How do you expect to beat a team being taught this kind of defense? That's impenetrable.

And that concludes Nebraska's (and my) hoops contribution for the year. We're irrelevant, the Buckeyes weren't playing to their potential, we all know this, it's not like it means a lot.

It's a win. The kids rushed the court and there's some basketball happiness in Lincoln for the moment.

It won't last.

Effort.

Lack of consistent effort.

I'm with Max here. Too often when one of our teams doesn't meet our expectations some fans question their effort, as in they aren't really trying. I'm not buying it.

This team simply does not have great shooters. This didn't just start last week with the players in question, shooting was never their strength. The difference is there isn't a Sully or DT to make up for it this year.

It's one thing to be frustrated - we all are - but it's another to question the heart and desire just because we don't like the results.

It's probably not worth it at this point, but I just keep thinking just play Kam Williams for the heck of it. Throw anything against the wall.

But it's not worth burning his redshirt, if he's not even ready to play.

This team needs to be rebuilt. Some upperclassmen are hurting the team (and coming back next season).

If he can contribute to this team, he should play. Period. I don't think there's a point in redshirting a guy if he can help, especially when you're struggling. I don't know if he is still not ready but if he's ready he shouldn't redshirt just because he sat the first half of the season. This team is probably as bad a team as he's going to be on at OSU, so I don't see the point in holding anybody back for another year.

But Amir is the guy that I look at and wonder what's going on. He's not giving the effort he needs to on a consistent basis. He's got to step up or this team is in big trouble. Wish Matta hadn't put all his eggs in Amir's basket.

I would suggest that you and Max go back and rewatch the same OSU team that took MSU to the wire get down 14 in the first half against Nebraska. I agree that shooting is an issue and one that is not easily fixed. And it may be the shooting issues that have led to other problems. But watching other teams waltz to the basket time after time is not characteristic of a Matta coached team. Scoring and scoreless streaks that take us down and bring us back almost every game are not characteristic of a Matta team. Getting out-worked is not characteristic of a Matta team.

IMO the man who might best be able to fix this is Walter White. We don't need meth, but we do need chemistry.

It has been a tough 4-game stretch for OSU, but I think to an extent the quality of opposition has been underrated. Three of four games on the road and 3 of those 4 teams are among the top-6 of the B1G and the other was a road game against a team that is probably going to wind up winning almost all of their home games this year.
