Agree... just like football. For the first 2/3 of his career the only way Woody Hayes got a 10-win season was if his team went undefeated and won the Rose Bowl whereas 10-win seasons for Tressel and Meyer were/are expected, especially with 2-3 wins pretty much guaranteed with the OOC schedule.Most of Taylor's regular seasons were 25 games long and the NCAA only took 16 teams. It's hard to win 25 under those circs.
Same thing in basketball, Matta is almost guaranteed 10-12 wins with the way OOC games are scheduled. That means to get a 20+ win season he needs to be just above .500 in conference play. He also has more chances to add to that win total in the post season with the Big Ten Tournament and the additional rounds in both the NCAA and NIT. At this point 20+ win seasons should be expected from Matta with 25+ win seasons occurring most of the time (and has happened the past 5 years and 7 of 10 total).
