2013-14 Bowl Games Open Thread

We'll need the Bucks and the other conferences to step up in the playoffs next year though. A big win for another non-SEC team next season will do a lot to quiet the talking heads. If the SEC comes out on top next year...they'll just pretend 2013 never happened.
First 2013 did happen, but unlike many on this board are willing to admit, it's not an indictment of the SEC as a weak conference. Yes, they got beat in the two BCS bowls, but they represented pretty well in the final game and the overall bowl record was very good.

The SEC is still the top conference top to bottom although they don't have the absolute best team year in year out.

But last night actually goes hand in hand with what many on here have said for a long time. One of the major reasons the SEC is strong is a relative abundance of good coaches. Auburn doesn't have the same level of player top/bottom that FSU has, yet that coaching staff had FSU on the ropes.

Major props to the FSU team and players for coming back and winning, but this shows what good coaching can accomplish. One can only hope that B1G schools can push for the same or better. It's not as if the resources aren't there...

I liked how he said that all season long they had been working to get themselves in this predicament.

Um. I don't think that word means what you think it means...

I agree with this. And we are seeing a lot of these good coaches, that helped orchestrate these last 7-8 eight years, move on to other jobs. We'll see if that changes things...
