2012 TSUN football news

I haven't heard this much confidence in an Ohio high school safety to come fix their fucked up secondary since Justin Turner.

FIFY. He was their savior, but I don't think he ever even got on the field.

Yep, the supposed "#1 player in Ohio" in '09. Didn't have a diploma, but got admitted anyway (Harvard of the West). Pretty sure he never saw the field, or at most very rarely. Transfered to wvu for a while, IIRC. I think he was also at Hawaii for a bit, and last I heard he was at Akron.

6 enrolling early including Dymonte Thomas. Get him in there and Countess back healthy, and I think the secondary will make improvements.

Have to wonder about the optimism you express re. Mr. Thomas.
Have you seen him play?
Many of us who have, are reluctant to believe he will offer an immediate upgrade to the secondary at TSUN.

Have you seen the UM secondary? I'm more excited about getting Countess back, but an influx of talented DB's will also be welcome. But like most things in recruiting, just have to hope they pan out. For every person that is reluctant, there is another that was still holding out hope Urban would flip him, so let's not act like he's garbage.

what improvements are needed? I thought they had the #1 pass defense.
Wasn't ESPN trumpeting Minnesota's vaunted pass defense? It's almost like the garbage passing in the B1G inflates these statistics.

Devin Gardner made a case for being the best passer in the B1G a week after playing WR

The thing that I found the most interesting about the scUM boards is that their view of football was so simplistic; "better recruits = better team"

While talent is at the top of the list of "must haves" for recruits. There is a whole lot more that the scUM fans were missing; coaching, strength and conditioning and a "tough love" approach to dealing with problems. Great coaching will bring out the winners inside "good enough" talent. Just look at Vince Lombardi as a classic example. Discipline will build character.

I love Tress, but he avoided meeting problem egos head-on. Thats how Clarrett went bad and why TP let his ego get way ahead of him. TP got away with a lot of stuff and guys that were on the "edge" followed him because they felt like they were above the rules (IMO). Tress started to lie rather than take TP down a few pegs.

Meyer isn't going to do any of that...I think his Florida experience had him walking a grey line from time to time and I don't believe that he will ever allow that to happen at OSU; he just doesn't have to put up with it.

Hoke on the other hand is a pussy. His guys got away with a fair bit of bad behavior this past year and I think it will only get worse. Kids that age learn by pushing the envelope and unless they are stopped, they get into trouble. I don't think Hoke has the stones to confront his kids.

We're going to recruit better than Michigan, but Meyer is simply a much better Head Coach than Hoke. That will be why we dominate those assholes; coaching

From the game vs. South Carolina, it did appear that TSUN has a level of diminished talent at db.
I didn't call either them or Thomas garbage, those are your words.
Re. TSUN 2013, Thomas played linebacker for his high school team,
the question remains-- will his talent translate to db at the college level?
Maybe, he has above average speed, 4.57 40, but if you are counting on Dymonte being an immediate upgrade, IMHO you are setting yurself up for disappointment.
BTW, I believe coach Meyer flipped the db I wanted, the one with the greater upside.:wink2:

yes:

Tuley-Tillman
Thomas
Bosch
Douglas
Charlton
Butt *snicker*

Of that group, LTT has the biggest bust potential. Weight issues. Slow. Reports of getting beat badly in camps. In fact, with the OL class Michigan has coming in, I would be surprised to see him crack the starting lineup before his senior year, if at all.

Thomas will be a 2-3 year starter and All B1G. Bosch and Butt will be studs. Douglas will be a multi-year starter. Taco is a wild card. Could go Boom or Bust, but I think he'll end up being a solid pass rusher.

Hoke has them where they have always been.

8-5/9-4 season after season with an occasional win over a higher ranked OSU team and he's set for life. They still have the modern 1/2 NC and all the full one's from the Hapsburg Empire days to keep them feeling all smug and superior.
