2012 TSUN football news

8-5, lost to every team with a pulse, needed extreme luck to beat Northwestern in overtime, failed to score a touchdown in three separate games, should finish unranked. Hard to believe that some moron picked Michigan to be the best team in the country this year: Bob Asmussen Looking Stupid Trying to Defend Picking Michigan No. 1 in AP Poll.

I realize that Michigan played, and lost to, the top three teams in the country this season, but they lost those games by a combined 80-41 (average of 26.7 to 13.7), were outgained in those three games by 1,066 yards to 847 yards (average of 355 yards to 282 yards, and they failed to gain over 300 yards in each game), and lost the turnover battle by 13 to 5 (they committed at least three turnovers in each loss).

Hoke has them where they have always been.

8-5/9-4 season after season with an occasional win over a higher ranked OSU team and he's set for life. They still have the modern 1/2 NC and all the full one's from the Hapsburg Empire days to keep them feeling all smug and superior.

Disagree. If he doesn't win the division next year, the honeymoon will be over (They are already grumbling about the decline from year 1 to 2). If he doesn't win the conference by year 5, his seat will get quite hot.

There's actually a few posters on their various boards discussing if/when he'll be fired. Two years removed from the dickrod debacle. They seem to think they should be challenging for the national title every year. How many times have they been in the NC hunt in the last 25 years? 1997 and 2006? Twice. That's all I can think of. That program has been loitering around the fringes of relevance for most of the last 30 years.

Thought we were discussing tsun, not ND. :)

There might be message board posters saying it but I don't think the powers that be will ever exert any real heat if he runs a clean program and wins 8-9 games a year up there.

That said, it all comes down to how he does in The Game. Carr made it through a lot of mediocrity because of Coopers incompetence and one miracle season. Tommy Boy has to deal with Urban Meyer, not Cooper and is carrying the weight of a 2-10 stretch on his round fat fuck shoulders.

The Game 2013 will be huge for his (and Urbans) legacy imo. It will give him his best shot to do a Bo/1969 impersonation as the Bucks are very likely going to be riding a 23 game win streak and a top ranking into AA next year. Win that, cost OSU a NC shot and he's good for a LONG time. He can go 8-5, 9-4 all the live long day as long as everything else stays clean.

Lose it and he's part of 2-11, has to win in Columbus in '14 to avoid starting out 1-3 personally all while Urban is playing for NC's and doing the recruiting rock star thing.

Just my .02

It should not be forgotten that this is the same program whose most revered coach never won a national championship.

The only coach Michigan could have got who might have worried me was Harbaugh. That would have been a true 10 Years War, once again. Instead, they get stuck with Hoke

Almost feel sorry for them

Pretty damming that Harbaugh didn't come back to his Alma Mater. Maybe he knows the suckage there, too?

Great post. This, in summary, is why I thought it was a joke that they were ranked as high as they've been all season. They've done absolutely nothing to warrant being ranked at all. I could assemble 10 of my buddies and form a team that could get trampled by Alabama, ND and OSU.

The only thing I'd add to your post is to remind everyone that the Northwestern win (which was the signature win of the season) was in Ann Arbor and was a game in which scUM was an 11 point favorite.

The scUM beat

Spent a little time reading the trash ...er....posts on a few scUM boards. The short version is

1) RRods recruits are the root of any problem (even if hey account for 90% of the offense) because Hoke's genius can't be fully realized until "his" recruits are on board

2) Hoke is ahead of "schedule" to dominate the B1G

3) Hoke's recruits are so superior that they will deliver multiple NCs to the scUM faithful.

4) Gravy's coaching genius is a given

I thought it was freaking hysterical. Denial, Delusion and Douchebaggery.
