2012 Preseason and regular polls (official thread)

USC has had top recruiting classes (2011-#4, 2010-#1, & 2009-#4) the last 3 years, they return 17 starters not counting both kicker Andre Heidari and punter Kyle Negretean, they have probably the best quarterback in the country (Matt Barkley) , and they finished their 2 year post season ban. I look for "Tommy Trojan" to be an outstanding team in 2012. It wouldn't surprise me to see them #1 in the preseason polls.

I'll believe it when Kiffin shows that he can coach worth a damn for an entire season.

With the talent bursting at the seams on that team, they might actually win in spite of him.

Anything's possible.

Next year will be interesting in the Pac-12 as IF things go as expected, the Ducks will have to win twice in the LA to win the conference title.

They could lose the regular season game, win their division and win the CCG to get into the Rose Bowl - they could lose both and still get to the Rose Bowl if USC goes to the BCS CG.

Matt Kalil, OT, USC

Nick Perry, DE, USC

This could slow them down. Still to lose 30 scholies, a coach, some 5 * recruits and come back stronger than when you got hit says a great deal about the Pac 12 and the USC brand. They own the West Coast.

16. Ohio State Buckeyes

Previous rank: NR
New Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, who guided Florida to BCS national championships in 2006 and '08, came out swinging in his first recruiting effort in the Big Ten. Even though the Buckeyes are facing a bowl ban this season as part of their NCAA sanctions, Meyer was able to assemble a top-10 recruiting class. The group had the dynamics of Meyer's best teams at Florida, with ESPNU 150 defensive linemen Noah Spence, Se'Von Pittman and Tommy Schutt leading the way. The Buckeyes will have to replace leading rusher Dan "Boom" Herron, receiver DeVier Posey and three offensive linemen, but rising sophomore QB Braxton Miller should be a pretty nice fit for Meyer's spread offense.

RB could be an issue for them. Curtis McNeil is back but beyond him there's not much experience. DJ Morgan will be back, Dillon Baxter could be back and then there's a redshirt freshman. It's something to watch.
