The Big Ten keeps getting bashed for being weak, yet they're basing Bama being #1 off of beating a Big Ten team. I'm confused....

Seeing as that B1G team is no longer ranked, come BCS rankings, that's going to start hurting them. Couple that with if MSU's track record continues and makes it 5 in a row, and we get our revenge, a 4+ loss scUM is really going to hurt Bama's chances (until they play LSU)

I'll stop complaining about Bama being #1 when a team comes within four scores of them.

FSU and KState are the only teams that have (what looks like at the moment) a quality win and also not put out a mediocre performance. Maybe Oregon, but I'm not sold on ol RichRod yet.

Polls are are a ridiculous attempt to measure the immeasurable. Polls before week 6 or 7 take that craziness to 11.

Did you mean start complaining?

In what world is Michigan a quality win? They were outplayed at home by air force and were lucky to avoid a third loss in four games..

I don't mind Bama being number one but his point stands. If the B1G stinks, and does it ever, then beating them should not be a feather in their cap

Reinforcement of ineptitude does not prove greatness in reverse

Bama is No.1 because they have dominated every game, are defending national champions, have the best coach in CFB, and just look awesome.

No one is close to them, I expect them to repeat as national champs.

That and the SEC currently has 6 ranked teams in the top 25, most in CFB so the conference strenght thing has a factor too. But that wont matter, Bama will roll through every game until they play LSU.

I wouldn't get too carried away man. Tennessee could give them a game too. All in all, I agree with most of what you stated....Bama should be the number one team. It's something you earn by winning a title the previous year, until someone knocks you off. Just MHO.

The 6 ranked SEC teams are also undefeated against non conference opponents...the likes of which include washington, arizona, tsun, western kentucky, florida atlantic, north texas, idaho, buffalo, east carolina, uab, bowling green, jackson st, troy and south alabama...combined 18-35

Other non-conference world beaters left for SEC teams to navigate: middle tennessee, western carolina, jacksonville st, louisiana-lafayette, georgia southern, Georgia Tech, towson and wofford. (Combined 15-11)...Seems like a daunting task even for the almighty SEC.

This is the kind of non conference scheduling that gets you 6 top 25 teams early in CFB seasons.

Hard to believe we moved up two spots. Also can't see why LSU didn't drop below FSU...#2 LSU beats an unranked Auburn team by only a safety and drops just one spot to #3 while FSU beats #10 Clemson by 12 points and remains at #4. Right now, FSU would beat LSU even at Red Stick...

Great point. I would probably have the Noles ahead of LSU right now too.
If LSU beats Florida in two weeks, I'd jump them back to #2. Unfortunately for FSU, they don't have many opportunites to enhance their resume until their game against Florida state.

I'm not saying that Bama doesn't deserve their #1 ranking. But if they're going to keep harping on how the Big Ten is so horrible, they shouldn't keep rewarding teams that win against them.

Other than maybe LSU - who on this list of teams actually poses any kind of a threat to them this year?

You mean the same Florida team that struggled to beat Bowling Green a few weeks ago? Yes, clearly they are the standard by which the top teams in the country should be judged.

Yes, it is unfortunate the FSU doesn't get to play any ESPN fluffed mediocre SEC teams to pad their resume.

ESPN fluffing = overrated mediocre SEC team = mediocre SEC teams beating other mediocre SEC teams = toughest schedule in America! = best conference EVA! = ESPN fluffing

It is a self perpetuating cycle of annoying that is perfect in its circular logic. You have to give it to ESPN for making the most out of their $4 billion contract.
