Published: Sunday, April 03, 2011
Joshua Funk, PennLive.com football blogger

Offers keep on rolling in for Jeannette's two-way athlete Demetrious Cox.

The Jayhawks' senior-to-be is up to 10 verbal D-1 offers, according to Scout.com and Rivals.com. Offering schools include Boston College, Connecticut, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Penn State, Pitt, Temple and West Virginia. Rivals lists Arizona State as also having extended an offer to the 6'1, 185-pound athlete. Other programs showing interest in Cox that have not yet extended offers include Duke, Buffalo, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Cox operated the reins of a resurgent Jeannette offense that averaged 38 points per game last season, topping the 40-point mark in six of 10 games. He accounted for 16 total touchdowns, running for 12 and throwing for four. He amassed 621 rushing yards and completed 55-of-88 passes for 698 yards.

Defensively, Cox was part a Jayhawk unit (including reserves) that held seven of 10 opponents to 13 points or less. He recorded a trio of interceptions for Jeannette as a safety.

Just wanted to head this off before people see the report below and ask the question. Devin Funchess just confirmed his offers to me. Michigan & Michigan State are the only ones at this point. He also listed Mario Ojemudia's offers as UM, MSU, & Stanford. I'm waiting on confirmation from Mario or his coach on that...

Harrison's Head signs with Saints

RECRUITING NEWS: Coach John Herrington said Harrison juniors Mario Ojemudia, Aaron Burbridge and Devin Funchess have been offered full rides by Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

Those are just a few of the many schools pursuing the trio. Herrington said coaches are calling all the time.

?I?ve never seen anything like it, even in the (Drew) Stanton era (or when Mill Coleman and John Miller were at Harrison),? he said.

Ojemudia (6-3, 225) is being recruited as a defensive end, although he is a two-way tackle for the Hawks. Burbridge and Funchess are wide receivers who also play defense.

Alabama and Stanford also have made offers to Ojemudia, and BCS finalist Oregon is recruiting Funchess, Herrington added.

White holds USC offer
By Eric Guimaraes

DB D.J. White (6-0 180) of McDonough, GA has offers from USC, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and South Florida. He is hearing from Georgia, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Alabama, Maryland, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. "He is a good kid from a good family," said his coach Paul Burgdorf. "He is going to make a great addition to any program and be a great football player." Burgdorf is unsure of which schools White is interested in. "I don't want to speak for D.J.," he said. "I know he understands the recruiting process and he is going to take his time." White has been on several visits, though Burgdorf could not confirm to where, and does have plans to attend several camps over the summer. White had three interceptions, 11 pass deflections, a fumble recovery and a punt returned for a touchdown in his junior campaign. He does not have a favorite, according to Burgdorf.

Free Rivals - Croom tries a new position

"I picked up offers from LSU and Tennessee recently," said Croom. "And then Monday Connecticut came by and they offered me, too. Georgia and Alabama were also at spring practice and others that have not offered yet like Ohio State, Florida State and Clemson. I did expect to get a couple of offers this year but I didn't expect all of these big offers."

Free Scout - Midwest Recruiting Notebook

Osseo (Minn.) tight end Will Johnson told Scout that everything is holding steady. In the last month, he has added offers from Kansas, Illinois and UCF, but Ohio State, Oregon and West Virginia are schools that may add to his list soon. He says a decision is not imminent and he will wait until after the season and his visits are taken.
