Dwyer picks up highly touted football transfer Faton Bauta | High School Buzz

by Matt Porter

A business opportunity for Faton Bauta?s parents could be a big boost to Dwyer High?s football program.

Bauta, a highly regarded college prospect who plays quarterback, linebacker and fullback for Poly Prep, a Brooklyn, N.Y. private school, is moving with his parents to Jupiter and will enroll at Dwyer this week.

Mejra Bauta said she and her husband, Mel, are bringing their youngest son with them as they pursue a real estate opportunity in South Florida. They researched area schools and Dwyer stood out, with its 2009 football state championship, last season?s ESPN-televised game and handful of Division 1 signees.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds. His size, speed and strength has caught the attention of Florida, Miami, Ohio State and other top schools. He has verbal offers from Maryland and Pittsburgh.

If Bauta stars in college, it won?t be a surprise. His four older brothers - Luman (Bucknell), Lav (Duke and Villanova), Izzy (Duke and Villanova) and Imer (Villanova) - all played in college, and Lav spent time in the New England Patriots' rookie camp. All were offensive lineman, and all attended Poly Prep. Luman is now an assistant coach at the school. Sister Ferdesa was an all-state volleyball player for Colts Neck (N.J.).

Barrington junior offensive tackle Dan Voltz came away impressed Saturday after attending Notre Dame's junior day.

"Just got off the phone with Coach Nick Saban, & I got an offer from the University of Alabama."

I should have more from Valentine in the near future. In the meantime, Alabama joins the likes of Auburn, Florida, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma and Wisconsin in offering.

Valentine told me recently the Gators had a slight lead but he's open to everyone.

Scouting: 2012 DT Vincent Valentine Jr.
TheRinger.com - By Smith - 3/21/2011

Valentine is one of those players where I fear for the safety of crossing guards, gym teachers, marching band directors, or any other person he may happen upon that uses a whistle. His instincts are so heightened after starting for his high school team for the last 3 years, I could see a Jefferson vs Lincoln moment at any time. There's little doubt that Valentine has all the physical abilities to become a dominant force on the defensive line in college. He has the burst to disrupt plays from the inside out. He has the brute strength to change the line of scrimmage. Plus he has the tenacity to do both over and over again, well into the 4th quarter and beyond if necessary.
