2012 Masters from Augusta

If you find a replay on the Golf Channel of Feherty, with Watson, watch it. I saw it earlier this weekend and was impressed with Watson as a "real person".
Next year I hope he wears some that complements the green jacket better, he looked like a Christmas tree after a heavy snowfall.

His outfit and his pink driver are nods to his charity work. I thought Oozy's green shirt would have looked terrible with the similar green jacket. Probably why he lost.

Disagree that shot was not lucky. He'd hit those shots earlier in the round/tournament (Bubba did). It's not lucky to hook the ball 40ish yards. That's skill. If anyone had the upper hand the 2nd playoff hole, it was Oosthuizen. He had what looked like a clear shot at the green after an abismal tee shot (again Bubba too). Louis hit his 2nd fat, and came up short. Then his chip was not played well either, even if it was a tough shot.

Bubba was clutch, and if it wasn't for a lucky double eagle on 2, Louis wouldn't have been in a playoff, and Bubba wins in 72 holes.

I do agree though. Louis has played very well as of late, and he's going to be a force to reckon with for the upcoming years.

That was a heck of a Masters tourney.

Wow, you really missed my point.

I think that, if you ask either player about those two shots, he'll tell you that he was bloody lucky.

The albatross? You don't get luckier than that. My point was exactly that Watson's nerves saved Oosthuizen, when he missed that putt on the first playoff hole. Oosthuizen really blew it when he followed Watson to the right on the second playoff hole. It was his to win or at least tie and he blew it.

A 164 yard shot, off of pine needles where you can't set your feet, around trees, to a point out of sight and land it within 12 feet? Well maybe most pros can make such a crazy shot. It is then unlucky that he missed such a short putt on the 1st playoff hole? He was lucky in that he had a good lie, an unobstructed and wide corridor to hit through, and no tree branches or roots to obstruct his swing. It was a crazy shot, in Watson's own words:

"I don't even know what happened on the back nine. I know I made bogey on 12 and then I birdied four holes in a row. Nervous on every shot, every putt. Went into a play-off. I got in these trees and hit a crazy shot that I saw in my head, and somehow I'm here talking to you with a Green Jacket on."

Again, Watson deserved to win it. Well done to him.

Agree. I did think it odd that during the final 9 holes they seemed to match shot for shot, but neither one could get lightening to strike until Watson hit that shot from the trees.

Maybe there's a pack developing that will not fold in the face of Tiger. That would be refreshing.

Are you sure, I thought they were a little older?

A local at work told me that - but you are correct, they weren't all one the same squad. Heath and Boo were on the same team. Bubba played the year after they graduated. From wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton,_Florida

  • Heath Slocum ? professional golfer, graduated from Milton High in 1992
  • Bubba Watson ? professional golfer who was born in nearby Bagdad, Florida, graduated from Milton High in 1997
  • Boo Weekley ? professional golfer, born in Milton, graduated from Milton High in 1992

If they allowed Bubba to play on the HS team when he was in middle school, they could have all played together.
