DispatchThe Ohio State football team won the only title it could — the Big Ten Leaders Division— in this season under NCAA suspension, and it appears the players will have something to show for their 12-0 effort.
Program insiders say athletic director Gene Smith has authorized commemorative rings for the Buckeyes, who completed the sixth unbeaten, untied season in school history. Whether the rings will rival those awarded to Big Ten championship teams of recent years remains to be seen.
Coach Urban Meyer has said that the 2012 team will have a large commemorative spot somewhere in the display areas of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center so that a team that had little more to play for than pride will never be forgotten.
DispatchThe fanatics.com web site boasts of lists “over 200,000 items for the best selection for holiday shopping” so word from publicist Max Puro of DKC News that an Ohio State vs. Michigan Undefeated Tee was the top selling item on the entire site on Cyber Monday demonstated the level of support for an OSU team that has no bowl in its future.

DispatchOhio State will stage a celebration for its Big Ten Leaders Division championship football team on Friday, Dec. 7, at St. John Arena, the school announced last night.
The festivities, which will include the players, the coaches led by Urban Meyer, the marching band and various dignitaries ? including Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman ? will get under way about 6:30 p.m.
It will be free to the public, but admission will be only by ticket vouchers, which are available through the ticketing portal of the athletic department website, OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
Students can gain admission with a valid BuckID card. They will be seated in the bleachers on the floor level of the arena.
Banned from the postseason for NCAA transgressions in previous years, the only title the Buckeyes (12-0) could play for this season was in the Leaders Division. The trophy will be displayed in the south corridor of the arena. The team is the sixth in Ohio State history to go undefeated and untied.
