2012 Final Four: tOSU -0.5 vs Kansas (ov/un 136.5) Sat 9:05 ET, CBS

no fast-break ability

It was embarrassing and just laughable at times when we tried...

Agree on Matta, great job coaching... lot of parts missing from this team. Last years team to me was the team that should have... this time team over-achieved a bit to me.

Proud of the Bucks, sucks to lose on a melt down, but this team has not been mentally tough all season.

Go Bucks! Great Run.

Some observations/reflections from a basketball first football second Ohio State fan after another crushing defeat

1) Kansas certainly looks like a team of destiny, with Purdue and OSU blowing leads at the end of games, avoiding foul trouble almost the whole tournament, and having Kendall Marshall break his wrist. To win a national title you need a lot of things to break your way (see Ohio State 2002) and take advantage of them - Kansas has done that. I, however, will feel no pity for them when they get stomped by a too talented Kentucky team.

I think we may have come close to KU in terms of having some things go our way in the tourny. I honestly felt that the Gonzaga game could have gone either way, and had they not missed so many open looks, we would have had another early exit. Then we get UC in the Sweet 16, who was a very average team. Drawing Cuse for the Elite 8 game was very fortunate as they were without Melo. I felt very good about drawing KU for the Final 4, as they looked totally mediocre all tournament long. Had we won last night, UK probably embarrasses us. They are much more complete and talented as a team, and as others said, we really overachieved this year.

Everyone on that side of the bracket got a huge break when Marshall breaks his wrist. If Marshall stayed healthy, I would have been stunned by anything other than a Kentucky and North Carolina final.

Postgame Kansas

Get those damn cords out of the way of our coach
Back trouble -- Matta, who suffers from a chronic back injury and drop foot, had a scary moment after the game when he nearly fell after tripping over TV cable wires.

Television crews had moved their equipment into the hallway outside OSU's locker room after the game to do a one-on-one interview with Craft. Matta, wearing his ankle-foot brace orthosis, was trying to leave to go to his post-game press conference when his foot got caught in the wires.

The trip caused Matta to lean forward, a movement that always causes him pain. He took one step to regain regain his balance, but was in noticeable discomfort. The coach returned to the locker room for several minutes of treatment.

Matta said he didn't require pain-killing medicine. "All I had to do was calm (my back) down," said Matta, who didn't require pain-killing medicine.

Great analysis:!. They didn't even play against each other and at least two out of three guys you mentioned will not be playing college basketball next year.

PSA to all posters

There are thousands of active posters on BP, but only a small chunk support the site. Especially for the rest, here's a great opportunity:

Support BP from Amazon... for FREE!

$2 MP3 credit expires tonight at midnight.

1. Go here to enter your $2 amazon MP3 credit

2. Enter this code: HITUMBLR

3. Come back, THEN Click here for the BP referral link for $0.99 Haydn MP3 Collection

- You can purchase something else, just use the above link to start the shopping so that BP gets a percentage of your (FREE!) purchase.

Finish before tonight at midnight, when the $2 credit expires.

Not only will BP be given a percentage of your free purchase, but each purchase will help bump up our referral percentage. If we can get a hundred posters to do this, that will mean an extra percent or three for any purchases made in April, meaning the next $200 software purchase or bathroom sink will be a more profitable purchase.

We got squat out of our McDonalds AA. KY did. Why? I don't know. All during their recruitment posters were saying they would contribute, what happened? I never saw these kids play in HS.

Sam Thompson didn't contribute? Seriously? He was a huge asset in the first half and all season.

Your ignorance to them in high school is not an excuse for that lousy comparison.

Anthony Davis was the best recruit in the entire nation. Kidd Gilchrist was ranked sixth. They had a third five star center as well, compared to zero five star prospects for osu.

Oh and the class before thst? They had #3 Kanter, #6 Knight, #8 Jones.

World Wide Wes is quite the asset for Calipari.

Williams plays behind two veterans. I think he should have played more mop up duty but comparing him to a better than Oden talent like Davis is a bit absurd.

LaQuinton Ross was a highly touted recruit who didn't become eligible until mid season due to academics and looked like a frosh who should have red shirted.

Shannon Scott played a lot. He just posed zero threat as a shooter and thus was strictly a backup. Give him an offseason to work on that and he will be a completely different player.

Being a McDonald's all American doesn't label a prospect as a superstar. It makes them a quality recruit, but certainly doesn't level the wildly tilted field between the Sullinger, Davis, MKC types and the Shannon Scotts.

Losing to Kentucky tonight in the Finals would have left a lot better feeling. I'm still trying to get over how this one got away. :smash:

Don't get that close to a Championship game (in which anything can happen) too often. Now what am I going to do with my Monday night? :(

Fall out from Wrestlemania is on @ 9... 2 hours of mindless, thoughtless entertainment.

I like everything you said..I just can't believe Scott and Thompson shot as poor as they did for HS all-americans.
