Syracuse didn't get screwed by the refs, they just got impacted more by the foul calls. The reason is because Ohio State was penetrating and drawing more bull[Mark May] foul calls than Syracuse was. Simple as that. Any fan who is crying that one team got screwed by the refs is just being a homer. Maybe if it wasn't Ohio State that Syracuse was playing, I'd be right there with them.
The refs "robbed" Syracuse of a win only in that their [Mark May]ty calls impacted the game so much and so evenly that you wish it could be played again with real refs. Had Syracuse won, the same exact thing could be said about Ohio State. I've never seen anything like it.

I mostly agree with your overall assessment of the refs being terrible all around. From the perspective of a Syracuse fan, did you not think that more fouls were called against Ohio State when there was no physical contact whatsoever between the two players? It seemed to me that the Buckeyes were getting called for more fouls (in significant junctures) where there was absolutely no contact, when the Bucks were conceding lay-ups so that they wouldn't be called for fouls.
There was a stretch where Ohio State got called for fouls that just didn't happen....starting with Sully's second. Waiter's missed dunk was in there.....and I think there was one more.Yep, I think it was Buford guarding him, and Buford was also signaling for the travel as he was defending at the top of the key, which made it even more sad.

BB73;2132839; said:I've seen this stated often. Sully put his hand on the guy's hip as he glided by in the air. How much of a push he gave him is very hard to tell. It's a situation where refs sometimes wait to see if the shot was made, and then call a foul only if the shot was missed. In this case, the guy obviously blew the whistle right away.
But it wasn't a phantom call like the one where Waiters hit the front of the rim on a dunk after going down the middle of the lane untouched.
