I mentioned it before, not sure if it was in this thread or another one, but there are a lot of nuances to officiating that go a long way with the coaching staff and players.

I was on FSU's sideline for 2 years, and I can't tell you how often referees would stop at the bench and own up to missing a call. It immediately eases a coaches tension when a ref owns up to a mistake. It also helps the officials call a game after a mistake, b/c they don't have to make bogus calls throughout the game to right the ship so to speak...

With the second Sullinger foul, I never saw an official ever approach Thad and ease the tension of a terrible call. I'm not joking when I say Thad was griping for about 5-6 minutes after the call...if you go back and watch the tape he's in an officials ear every time down the court about what had happened. Not too mention, if the official running by Sullinger thought it was the correct call, he'd have T'd Sully up on the spot...those guys knew a wrong had been committed.

That is the reason the officials lost control of the game. Each official on the court was trying to cover for mistakes of other guys in the crew to even the game out. At some point, they just lost control. To the point where phantom calls were being made to give out one-and-one free-throws...

It was just awful all-around...the Sullinger foul was awful, and they owed us an apology, but to turn the game into what it became was amateur hour...

Damn, I figured bitching about the officiating would end after the Buckeyes won.

It's like every game tops the previous as the worst officiated game in the history of basketball.

This one was awful.... but I feel like that's pretty much what all of BP's basketball threads have been consumed with all season.

You apparently missed my post in the Michigan basketball thread.

We bitch win or lose. At least we're consistent. But this time, the rest of the world actually agrees with us.
