2012 Elite Eight: #2 tOSU 77, #1 Syracuse 70 (Final!)

Wow...just wow. Didn't want to post during the game so I didn't jinx it. 3rd time in my life that we have reached the final four. What a special night...I have watched every single game this season, including exhibitions. Three weeks ago, I did not see us making it past the Sweet 16. There was no cohesiveness, players were fighting, Matta was kicking players out of practice, and shots were not dropping. Somehow, everything has pulled together and it has been a thing of beauty to watch. Really proud of how this team has turned it around. I was the loudest OSU fan at any sports bar in Idaho (guranteed)! GO BUCKS!!! :osu: :banger::banger::banger::banger:

NCAA Director of officials John Adams looked overwhelmed leaving the arena. He declined comment. "You're not the only one who asked."

NCAA statement: Technical on Boeheim came because he was out of coaching box and had been been told "enough" 3 times.

Thamel is a good journo, but full disclosure: he's a Syracuse grad. I think both sides are looking for some explanations. It should be interesting to hear what comes out in the coming hours and days.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I admit I was one of the ones that was seriously doubting them three weeks ago after that Wiscy game. However, they've come together and are playing their best basketball at the best time.

Unbelievable job, guys.

:oh:

My abbreviated reflections. As per usual for the NCAA, the officiating was abhorrent, as the refs tried to do their best to take the game over. At least it was awful on both ends and, if anything, we got the slight benefit this time.

That said, I've never been more proud of an OSU basketball team and, if I may, let me happily eat some crow. I thought this team was dead in the water 3 weeks ago. But they've gradually improved and got a favorable draw and here we are! What a great night.

I'm hammered so I'll stop there. Go Bucks!

It's tough when you screw the pooch so early in a game. Officials know when they've made a massive mistake.

When they called a phantom call on Jared, it threw the game off-tilt. The rest of the game they tried to even the balance sheet, including an awful charge DeShaun took, and the following technical.

Then you have 3 officials covering for mistakes of the rest of the crew, and the bullshit that broke out tonight is what the results are.

I'd be pissed if I were a Syracuse fan, just like I'd be pissed as an OSU fan. They took 14 mins of PT away from Jared in the first half. But the ticky-tack, try and even the game with free-throws, continually make up for other bad calls isn't a recipe for a well called game.

I'm just glad we got the "W".

Hat's off to the Cuse for giving us a hell of a run tonight. And to their players for taking the high road and not bitching about the refs, especially Scoop.

I think the thing I like most about this team is that someone is going to step up and score every single night and Sully's still going to get his. It could be Buford, Craft, Thomas or Zelle. It's been a hell of a ride this year. I love this team.

By the way, the best thing an official can do when he drops the ball so badly, is to come over, apologize for the miss, and then give a little something back in the next minute or two.

By Thad's reaction for the next 5 mins after Jared picked up that foul, none of the officials reached out to him and let him know they blew the call. It seriously makes a massive difference in the attitude of the coach...

I thought Thad was going to strangle someone.

Not to mention, it's obvious at least one of the officials knew it was as AWFUL call b/c Jared yelled "that's f*cking b*lls*it" as a ref went right by him on the bench and they didn't T him up.

It was all just really poorly handled. And by not handling it all, the rest of the game was the result.

A common claim that I've since 'Cuse fans make tonight is that "Ohio State shot 17 more free throws than us...the refs were on the take." However, when you look at the end of the game, OSU shot 11 more free throws than SU over the last 1:08 when SU was fouling to stop the clock. A 6 free throw disparity over the first 39 minutes of the game, especially in a game with as many foul calls as this one, really isn't all that much.
