2012 Elite Eight: #2 tOSU 77, #1 Syracuse 70 (Final!)

The "I watched the game and don't believe it stat" from tonight:

Besides Amir Williams' 1-for-4, every Buckeye shot at least 75% from the FT line tonight.

As bad as the refs were, the Bucks free throw shooting kept Syracuse closer than it should have been. Made for a more exciting finish though. Awesome job for this young team to beat them and the crowd down the stretch. Now I have to change my plans for next Saturday night, have tickets to the Indians and the Rangers in Goodyear and it's a night game. Oh well, Buckeyes trump the Tribe and especially during Spring Training.

:oh:

Ohio State made 16 of their last 18 free throws. Free throw shooting won the game.

I just had to have the "Remember when I told you that a decade of football like we had under JT was something that doesn't happen very often... the final four is another one of those things..." talks with my son.

Damn, being a tOSU fan sometimes does not leave a lot of room for having parenting talks.

NOLA! Here we fuck'n come!

:oh:

Just to add some perspective, William Buford had 9 rebounds and only 1 turnover tonight. (Must've been that heart-stopper with about 49 seconds left).

Congrats to the senior on making a Final Four at the end of his career.

Congrats to the senior on making a Final Four at the end of his career.

He gets a lot of grief, even tonight, but he had a solid game and made some timely blue collar plays.

I was about to note this. Too many fans focus on shooting and fail to see the overall impact on the game.

I agree. Yes, those early misses hurt, but just like football, get the first downs when you need them down the stretch. And they made their free throws down the stretch. Tells you a lot about the team...

LOL...

Jared just unintentionally said he was going pro.

Reporter: Jared, can you talk a little about Amir who played 9 minutes in the first half and did a pretty nice job.

Jared: Amir is really talented, but unfortunately he has been behind me and Evan. So watch out for him next year.
Hey, hey, hey...

Maybe that just means Amir's going to pass Ravenel on the depth chart.:(

Agreed, the free throw shooting down the stretch (13 of 14 in the last minute and a few seconds) won the game. However, hitting only 18 of 28 initially kept Syracuse closer than it should have been was the point i was trying to make. That's why I said it was a great job by this young team down the stretch even against the hostile crowd.
