2012 tOSU Defense

Buckeyes lose Andrew Sweat and Tyler Moeller who both played solid. However we return 9 starters from this year(Nathan Williams was granted medical reshirt) and a new look on defense at coaching staff with Fickell DC and Withers in the mix. How well does everyone else see them doing? Shazier, Roby, Simon should have a big year imo.

I cant wait to see how the DBs develop with Withers. Hopefully he can help out OJ and Bryant.

Here's hoping that next year's returning DL starters, plus Nathan Williams, plus the fabulous DL freshmen will be bringing the heat! I am feeling optimistic about it. So far, it is impossible for Urb to have done a better job on dialing up the heat.

There is a recent video interview with Withers saying that he and Fickell agree that the run has to be stopped first. However, the Ozone depth chart might be the natural progression anyway.

Not if he's faster than all the Olinemen he faces and if he's strong enough to stand them up. After watching Marotti's video this morning and hearing about the new regimen these guys are going through, it'd be near impossible to predict what kind of shape or size these guys are going to have come fall. He could probably put on 20 pounds and be a 3 technique without compromising a great deal of his speed.

Cash and Clarke

While it's nice to get the extra schollies, it's a real shame about Cash and Clarke not being contributors going forward, both seemed like future NFL talents and we'll be significantly weaker in our 2-deep at CB and safety next year and possibly in 2013 as a result. I thought Clarke should have been starting all season over Howard based on what I saw of him, and Cash seemed like he was a special player from reports I was reading.

No matter how much talent you have, it almost always takes a while to get comfortable reacting instantly to all the scheme responsibilities in the game. Hopefully Doran Grant can be ready quickly and live up to his promise, and Tanner, (Pittsburgh) Brown, or Wood can do the same.

When you look at all of the transfers in the secondary and Domicone blowing an ACL in the bowl game they are going to be awfully thin in the secondary for the Spring game.....just like last year's game with the o-line injuries and departures.
