I'm trying to figure out why everyone thinks Indiana's so good. I mean, they've got a nice team this year, but they are light years away from being elite. Their best payer (Zeller) can disappear at times and can be neutralized by anyone who displays the slightest bit of physicality in defending him. Oladipo is a great athlete, but also can be neutralized by game planning against his strength (getting to the hoop) and making him shoot from the outside. At 6'9", Watford should be better than he's ever developed into as a senior, and other than that, you have guy who are, at best, role players (e.g., Hulls is limited, to say the least, and I'm still trying to figure out what Sheehey brings to the table).

In case you haven't noticed, nobody can hold onto the #1 ranking this year. Every team out there from a power conference has at least 2 losses. In some years the best teams enter the NCAA tourney with only 2 or 3 losses - this isn't one of those years.

The Hoosiers have only lost twice this year, and that is as good as anybody else at this point. If OSU beats IU a week from today, Florida might end up at #1 and stay there a while since they are in a very weak SEC and not likely to lose soon. IU has benefited from a favorable early B1G schedule, with no road games at UM, MSU, or OSU (or even Wisconsin or Minnesota) in the first half of the conference slate. But they will have 4 road games against those 5 teams in the second half of the conference schedule. IU has some flaws, but they have one of the best teams this year.

I agree with most of what you say, but I disagree that the SEC is all that weak overall. Kentucky, Florida, Mizzou and Mississippi are all quality teams that definitely will make the Dance, and Alabama has a realistic shot at making it as well. I agree that the bottom of the league is pretty sorry, though they have no team as weak as the B1G has in Penn State.

surprise surprise...

the SEC sucks this year. They could conceivably only get 3 teams into the tournament at this point.
