2012-13 Big Ten Basketball

We will see how this plays out but I think Indiana shoots the 3 way too much and does not get Zeller involved enough. There probably will beat Sparty today but down the road I think is going to hurt them. Also, Payne has improved leaps and bounds this year from last.

Can just go ahead and recycle this statement every year with "[Michigan State player X] has improved leaps and bounds this year from last."

Izzo gets so much out of his guys.

There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, more boring than Wisconsin basketball. Jesus Christ. How does anybody watch that crap?

I actually enjoy it. I enjoy watching an athletically challenged team just frustrate the hell out of opponents with slow pace and solid outside shooting. They're essentially Sweet 16 locks every year too when no one else has it in their bracket. It doesn't matter who Wisconsin plays and what their style is, they get their opponent to play their game and it just mind-fucks out of conference teams come tourney time every year...Big 10 teams too for that matter.

Far from S16 locks. They have made it less than half (5) of Bo's 11 seasons. But I am glad that they are in the same conference in the sense that OSU won't be likely to face them in the NCAA tourney (though an unfortunate by product of B1G expansion will make it a bit more likely).

I for one hope when Bo retires that Wisconsin stresses hiring a coach who will take the style of play a complete 180 from Bo. Up-tempo, freedom to players, targeting (and landing) high level talent in the Chicago area. The worst thing the could do is hire another guy with a similar style as Bo thinking the train will just keep rolling, because it is rare to see a coach succeed over the long haul as Bo has with such modest talent on his team year after year.

You do realize that Sparty beat Wisconsin at their place last night. It is not just PSU and Northwestern especially the latter. Maybe PSU and Nebraska but I hate playing Northwestern at their place. Plus, it is very early in the season for the home teams to have that many losses.

I hate playing at NW too - it looks like my 5 year old colored on their floor with a purple marker :shake:

I'm trying to figure out why everyone thinks Indiana's so good. I mean, they've got a nice team this year, but they are light years away from being elite. Their best payer (Zeller) can disappear at times and can be neutralized by anyone who displays the slightest bit of physicality in defending him. Oladipo is a great athlete, but also can be neutralized by game planning against his strength (getting to the hoop) and making him shoot from the outside. At 6'9", Watford should be better than he's ever developed into as a senior, and other than that, you have guy who are, at best, role players (e.g., Hulls is limited, to say the least, and I'm still trying to figure out what Sheehey brings to the table).
