2012-13 Big Ten Basketball

No more Big East Men's Basketball Tournament at Madison Square Garden in the future.

For some reason, I keep thinking the Big Ten is going to hold their tournament there, at least once, after the term in Chicago is up and cities can bid again.

What it'll do is alienate travel for Western Big Ten schools (like Wisconsin).
Boy, I really can't see that happening. I realize they want to get into those eastern markets, but moving the tourney to NYC would be over-accommodating, IMO.

No kidding, I'd hate it. You don't think New York and Big Ten (just like I don't think North Carolina and Big Ten, but that's another issue).

Seriously though, with whatever the Big Ten becomes, I could really see Delany making moves like:

1) Big Ten Baseball Tournament in the South (Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia)
2) Big Ten Ice Hockey Tournament held outdoors in a football stadium
3) Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament in D.C. or New York.

That would just be plain stupid to take conference championships that far away from their fan base. I know that fans travel but you will lose a lot of fans who just want to see good games. Also, moving hockey outside would be an injustice to the teams who have played indoors all season. There is a difference between playing outside and inside even in hockey.

Don't be shocked if it happens, because the Big Ten's new office is supposedly going to be in New York

This is the guy who brought us Legends and Leaders, so I wouldn't put anything past him.

Probably doing it again tonight after knocking off top-ranked Indiana.

Our conference is deep. Nobody is getting out of it unscathed, but those who make the NCAA tourney shouldn't be intimidated by anyone they meet there. That includes our Buckeyes.

Now weak ass Gonzaga will be #1...puke!

That makes perfect sense, actually, because the #1 ranked team at the end of the regular season rarely wins the NCAA tourney. I realize UK did it last year, but that is a surprisingly rare occurrence. The Zags should be able to avoid losing through the WCC tourney, which means they likely will be #1 entering the NCAA tourney.

Who was the last team before '12 UK to enter the tourney ranked #1 and win it? Some questions just aren't Google-friendly.
