At this point in the recruiting season, I'm surprised we have not heard more about Eilar Hardy, Donovan Clark, AJ Jordan, and Brad Carrico. I love the skills of Hardy and I am shocked that he does not have an offer. I thought Donovan Clark would get more of a look on the OL or DL. I have heard there are some concerns about AJ Jordan's small hands, but his film is great. I really think Brad Carrico would be an outstanding OT down the road. I'd like to hear some players you are surprised that have not been talked about?

People can say we had a "bad" class but as long as we continue to improve our team speed which we have done in the last few years, I think we are going to be just fine.

Maybe 'bad' as compared to numbers of 5*'s, or 'star-power' type players, but looking at the recruiting by class, it appears that Tress & Co filled in some of the 'holes' of the position/classes. Maybe could have used more OL and DL's, but there's enough in the pipeline to fill in the gaps. Don't think that the elite DI teams recruit kids that cannot play, or have the potential to play (one never knows), so there are 85 kids that can/should contribute. I'd bet a vcash buck that the recruiting team (OSU's) kinda has a feel for which guys will 'eat' their way from defensive end to defensive tackle, or LB to lineman.
When a 'great one' such as Seantrel comes along, you gobble them up, especially if they are at a position of need. Even if they represent an upgrade in what is already on the two-deep 'board', but no real need.
It's always been said that the ONLY way to assess the class is to see who contributes within three-four years to playing time. I believe that to be true, but at the outset of a recruiting class, we did have a 'bad' year, by the very 4-5* pieces of meat that OSU lost. Someone did a very good study showing how a class was 're-rated' after 4 years, and it appeared that most if not all of OSU classes were re-rated upwards. I may be delusional, but thought that most SEC classes were re-rated downwards.
If the system is working (and OSU's is working folks), then you can plug in the players as juniors that have gained experience, weight, strength, and savvy and not miss many beats. Finally, this is where good coaching comes in, training up those 2-3*'s into world beaters, like Tress & Co do.

IMO this class wasn't "bad". It could of been alot better but we missed on some guys at the end. I think it there was just some bad luck in there to. I mean we had Shaw and Floyd pretty much done, and some things went on that changed they're minds.
IMO the upside for this class is great. We have some guys that were underrated, and some guys with really high ceillings. I LOVE the versatility of this class. Plus you can't help but like adding fast guys like Brown, Louis, Hagan, and Roby. And the defense only gets faster with every class...

I'm hoping that Ken Mullen gets an offer from the upcoming spring/summer camps. Also, is there a list out for the visits happening for the upcoming spring game? I know of Cash and Lyons but that's it so far.

With Bobek, Carter, and Underwood already in the fold I assume Farris and Bennett will be looked at as DL first. Then given a second go at OL, if D doesn't work out. Especially if Walker earns his offer and commits. That will be a total of 8 lineman 4 on O and 2 DT and 2 DE. Sounds like a great base of a class to fill a need.

How sick of a D-Line class would S.Miller/Farris/Bennett/Hayes be?

Anyone have an idea of how many slots the coaching staff is looking to make available for the 2011 class? I ask because obviously its different every year but it seemed like with 18 this past class it was on the small side... FL had 28 but probably had a lot to fill to get 85. 22-25 seem reasonable?
