2011 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I say these 6 instate guys see offers tomorrow...Miller, Miller, Depreist, Hayes, Grant, Jordan...

Not really going out on a limb there as 3 of the 6 already have offers.

I would like to see more go out to guys like Rock, Wynn, Sturdivant, Walker, to show that the staff thinks they are for real, but don't see them getting offers yet, and usually with Glenville they don't always announce they have offers even tho everyone seems to say that they do...
You don't see offers to Donovan Clark or Chris Rock? I thought they were getting offers for sure. And I would be a bit surprised by offering Jordan this early. But then again, we offered others early before too.

Written offers arrive today

Sept. 1 is the first day college coaches can extend written scholarship offers to juniors. Some prospects that are virtually certain to receive written offers today include quarterback Braxton Miller (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), defensive end Steve Miller (Canton, Ohio/McKinley), linebacker Trey DePriest (Springfield, Ohio) and tight end Ben Koyack (Oil City, Pa.).

Braxton Miller has over a half dozen verbal offers. His list includes Ohio State, Michigan, West Virginia and Cincinnati.

Steve Miller's list of offers includes Michigan State, Florida, West Virginia, Purdue, UCLA, Stanford and Syracuse.

DePriest has verbal offers from Michigan, West Virginia and Cincinnati.

Koyack's list of verbal offers is almost off the charts for this early point in the recruiting process. Penn State, Ohio State, Pitt, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Maryland and North Carolina State are just some of the offers Koyack has.

All of those prospects have been told by college coaches to expect the written offers to begin arriving today.

Do the offers to the Treasure Coast DBs have any impact on whether Jeremy Cash gets an offer relatively soon?

I came away very impressed by his actions at camp this summer...not to mention his talent level reported by some on this site. He's already one of my favorite 2011 recruits and I am rooting for him to come up north!

Well, Lamarcus Brutus looks like more like a CB/S-type, while Keelin Smith is probably a kid who can play either safety spot (he is already really tall for CB).

Cash seems to be a STAR S/LB player like Jermale Hines is now, and Chad Hagan probably will be. I would not be surprised in the least if the staff told him they wanted to hand deliver his offer this weekend when he comes to the 'Shoe for the USC game.

Hmm I didn't realize Cash was that size, thought he was a S all the way. I hope you are right about his offer this weekend!

Mountaineers offer two Ohio juniors
Junior defensive back Eliar Hardy (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) landed his third scholarship offer on Thursday. The 6-foot-0, 175-pounder has received offers from West Virginia, Cincinnati and Maryland. Hardy made 85 tackles and intercepted three passes during his sophomore season. He has played both safety and cornerback. West Virginia, Cincinnati, Maryland and Ohio State are among the schools Hardy is interested in.

Linebacker Steven Daniels (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) is another Buckeye State junior who landed an offer on Thursday from West Virginia. Daniels has helped the Bombers jump out to a 3-0 record this season.

The Bucknuts recruiting database lists Pickerington safety Eilar Hardy when you pull a list of offers for 2011. However, they don't mark Ohio State with an " * " as the key indicates for offers. Anyone have any idea if Hardy has an Ohio State offer?

According to Kurelics blog above, Hardy does NOT have an Ohio State offer.

Massive Ohio Junior Has First Offer

By Allen Trieu
Midwest Regional Manager
Posted Sep 23, 2009

One big man in the 2011 class many colleges are checking into is Akron Firestone (Ohio) offensive tackle Tommy Brown. Already with his first offer, Brown is hoping more will come.

Brown visited for the Navy game as well as a few games last year. He also camped this summer and was named as one of the top performers. The Buckeye coaches have asked for film from this season. He's also hearing from Kansas, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Duke, Purdue, and Cincinnati. No offers yet.

Per Trieu, it sounds like he'd commit on the spot if Ohio State offered.

Ohio State poised for nice class

The Ohio State Buckeyes are off to a great start for 2011 and have the potential for an outstanding class.

Jim Tressel has already secured a pledge from Whitmer (Toldo, Ohio) defensive end Kenny Hayes, one of the top in-state players in the class.

The Buckeyes are also prohibitive favorites for quarterback Braxton Miller and defensive end Steve Miller, two more Ohioans who rank near the top of their respective positions.

Wayne Litmer
Massive lineman Aundrey Walker is a top target for Ohio
State.

Add Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio) standouts Aundrey Walker (defensive tackle), Andre Sturdivant (linebacker), and Shane Wynn (athlete) into the mix, as the Tarblooders are usually very friendly to Ohio State.

Jeremy Cash, a defensive back from Plantation (Fla.) and Ben Koyack, a tight end from Oil City (Pa.) are out-of-state players considering heading to Columbus. If the Buckeyes land all or most of those targets, they should have a top class in 2011.

'11 OH SAF Eilar Hardy

Hardy is looking at West Virginia, Maryland, and Ohio State in addition to Cincinnati. All have offered except for Ohio State. He's quoted as saying he needs to get bigger and he's not sure how close to home he wants to be. The type of coach he'd like to play for needs to be someone he can talk to and "be a good friend" to him.

Hardy Favors Cincinnati

Eilar Hardy talked with Scout's Maryland site for a recent story. Instead of talking about the Terps, Hardy could only talk about the Bearcats. See what Hardy said to another site about his recruiting.

Lots of DE's in the class...I would think that we are done at that position with Hayes and Miller, especially with Pittman and McMullen in the 2012 class...Unless there one that could play inside and outside, like Rock for example...

Or of course another top 50 guy...
