I don't think anyone would have guessed that offense was close to being the 4th best statistically in Tressel's tenure.

That offense was pretty steady when Clarett was healthy (in september). Once he broke down, teams made Krenzel complete passes.Buckeneye;1910044; said:That was more towards the point I was getting at.
I was still rather shocked to see them ranked that high. 70th? That run game sure did wonders.

I have a question for everyone ... if the Buckeyes win their first 5 games in 2011 what do you think Tressel should do .. Should he put Pryor and the other players who were suspended back into the starting line up ... or should he just leave the team as it is ?

Injury report
Safeties Tyler Moeller (recovering from torn pectoral muscle) and C.J. Barnett (recovering from knee surgery last fall) have been held out of contact all spring, though Barnett has participated in some on-field drills.
Safety Jamie Wood was having a good spring before suffering a shoulder injury a week ago during the scrimmage in Ohio Stadium. He likely will be held out today. Among linebackers, Storm Klein was slowed by injury in mid-month, and Scott McVey is recovering from injury.
Analysis: Buckeyes still have many areas of concern

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
In some ways, spring practice provided Ohio State a haven from the storms crashing all around - an NCAA investigation, suspensions and talk of possibly more sanctions to come. But there was no escape from the issues on the field. The Buckeyes not only must replace 10 departed starters but find substitutes for five players who will be suspended the first five games. It's time to assess whether the Buckeyes succeeded in picking up the pieces and whether they provided at least a framework of stability.
Quarterback
Turmoil factor: 9. It was obvious to all at yesterday's scrimmage. Terrelle Pryor stood on the field wearing a headset but was unable to participate as he recovers from a foot injury suffered in the Sugar Bowl. Of course, he is among the suspended.
What's to like: All four contestants - senior Joe Bauserman, sophomore Kenny Guiton, redshirt freshman Taylor Graham and freshman Braxton Miller - threw touchdown passes after a combined slow start. Miller, a blue-chip recruit who developed through the spring, was the QB of record on three scoring drives. Going into preseason camp, the top two might include him.
Reason to worry: None of the four has started a college game. None of the four, and that includes two-year backup Bauserman, stepped up and grabbed the job in the spring.

Running back
Turmoil factor: 5. Brandon Saine graduated, taking with him experience and stellar receiving skills. Returning starter Daniel Herron, who developed into a workhorse and inspirational leader last year, is one of the players facing suspension. Younger players such as Jordan Hall and Jaamal Berry got valuable experience last season as backups and kick returners.
What's to like: Sheer numbers, mainly. Besides Hall and Berry, the Buckeyes will have redshirt freshman Rod Smith and sophomore Carlos Hyde. Hall, Berry and Smith all had good springs, with Hall perhaps poised to be used more often in the passing game. Smith showcased a smooth, powerful running style and could be the next featured back. And Herron will return eventually.
Reason to worry: Though they all show promise, none of the tailbacks has proved himself as a featured back. Coach Jim Tressel seems to like finding a guy to hang his hat on in crunch time. Who will emerge?

COLUMBUS — Though a lot can happen between now and the season-opener on Sept. 3 against Akron, here's a look at who started Saturday on both sides of the ball at Ohio State's spring game.
- Offense: QB Joe Bauserman, RB Dan Herron, FB Zach Boren, TE Jake Stoneburner, WR DeVier Posey and Corey "Philly" Brown, OT Mike Adams and Andrew Norwell; OG Corey Linsley and Jack Mewhort; C Mike Brewster.
- Defense: DL Nate Williams, Jonathan Hankins, Garrett Goebel, John Simon; LB Andrew Sweat and Etienne Sabino; CB Dominic Clarke and Travis Howard; S Ohrian Johnson and Nate Oliver; DB Chad Hagan.
Herron, Posey and Adams will all sit out the first five games along with Terrelle Pryor and DE Solomon Thomas.
Walking wounded
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said earlier this week that anyone who might further injure or re-injure an already existing problem would not play on Saturday.
That was a long list, especially in the secondary, where 10 defensive backs sat out the scrimmage. Sidelined were Tyler Moeller, C.J. Barnett, Christian Bryant, Jamie Wood, Corey "Pittsburgh" Brown, Dionte Allen, Zach Domicone, Donnie Evege, Adam Griffin and Nate Ebner.
Linebackers Scott McVey and Storm Klein were also held out of action, along with defensive end Melvin Fellows, who was injured in last week's scrimmage.
Hankins, as Tressel called it, was "dinged" during the scrimmage, and did not return. Simon said Hankins was hit in the head and it was not serious. Continued...
Additionally, left tackle J.B. Shugarts was held out of action with what Brewster said was a sore shoulder.
