2011 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

As for the Sooners. They did beat up on a crappy Uconn. Looked pretty average in the early going as well. That offense is nasty though - I don't have much issue seeing them at #1 for a bit.

I pretty much agree.

It's not that I like them as #1 that much, but I don't see anyone who deserves to be ranked ahead of them.

Oregon has work to do with both lines.

The Gumps have issues throwing and catching the ball.

The Tiggers have issues with QB and receiver, scoring and a new O coach.

The Cardinal has issues with both lines and a new coach.

Below that it's a crapshoot.

The Aggies, Cowboys and Gamecocks are still Aggies, Cowboys and Gamecocks.

Florida State might be very good.

Boise has to play in an actual not-as-crappy conference.

Ohio State has issues almost everywhere except Defense.

Nebraska is in a whole new conference and still has Bo Pelini as coach.

Arkansas has to prove it can get by The Gumps before they'll be taken seriously.

Sparty is still Sparty.

Everyone else is anyone's guess.

Oregon's has O/D line and LB issues. Actually defensive issues in general given its an option for them to play when they feel it convenient.

Don't kid yourself though - for all that offensive skill Oklahoma has, their defense does take a backseat. While they have athlete's, they don't have discipline or a 'physical' style (IMHO). That performance against Uconn in a couple situations (the 4th & 1 stop) was simply having better athlete's.

Bama's defense will again be very good, at least against the run. I know they return a great pair of safeties. How about their pass defense though? Oh how I wish Colt McCoy would have never been injured.
Regardless, if they're running the ball like they want to; they playaction will be their even for mediocre QB's.

Auburn is back to being Auburn. That system will make an average QB look decent. Their front 7 won't be as good. Not sure if the secondary is still going to suck though.

Not sure what LSU pulled out of their ass against A&M - Jefferson looked like a QB for once. Let's see if that was an aberration : because my $ thinks it was.

Okie State? All flash aside from the best WR in the nation.
Scar? - Garcia is a fat loser  Lattimore is solid. Alshon is a stud.
A&M won't be shit this year.

I don't understand the obsession with FSU. They got blown out by OU. Got a little better by season's end. But they lost their starting QB and some of their best players are incoming freshman.

Fuck Boise. That is all.

tOSU. Settle on a QB and work around him. KG, Braxton or Graham - doesn't matter. Defense will be fantastic if health allows it. RB's & TE's are a great young bunch. WR is the problem. So, no - we don't have 'issues everywhere'. All 3 of the listed QB's are farther ahead of where TP was as a freshman by a long way. Are they the same caliber of athlete? No. But a better caliber QB I'll bet. On top of the fact the defense and Oline should be significantly better then the 08 unit that TP played with (respects to Freeman, Malcolm, Animal, Kurt and the Oline)

Nebraska has a legit shot if the offense is steady. Pelini is a defensive mind. Great union for this conference.

You guys (Arky) might have a stud QB blossoming daily. Davis is the truth.
Let's see what happens with your TE & Dline situation though.

Who is Sparty?

I don't disagree with any of that, I just can't find anyone that should legitimately be in front of Oklahoma.

I guess you could make an argument for Bama, but I'm not sold on them being able to score.

It's going to be an interesting season.

I'm not placing any bets yet. We turned over half our offensive coaching staff, lost three guys from the O Line, and rebuilt our offense from the ground up. To date nobody outside Stadium Drive knows what the new offense will be. Those are some HUGE question marks heading into the season for Nebraska.

Defensively we should be legit. Like you said, Pelini knows his stuff. Our front four is a solid - and I mean solid - two-deep. We have talent at the third and fourth level at DT. We have playmakers at DE. We just have some questions about our LBs, 2/3 of whom were significantly injured last year and lost a lot of playing time. We're going to reload in the secondary, and I'm not worried about those guys at all.

We have a chance to be good, but there's a lot of proving to do. Blowing Washington out by four TDs would be a nice start.

My comments:

1. I think Miami and Georgia are undervalued here. If I were a betting man, that's where my money would go.

2. I'd be selling short on Oregon, Boycee, Penn State and Florida State.

3. It must be a source of great joy to the War Eagles to see that Auburn and the University of Cincinnati at Cincinnati have the precise same odds.

They are supposed to have a stellar defense this year, that's all I know.

So all 11 players on D will be nut grabbing rather than just the linemen?

Rivals is well on their way to ranking the pre season top 120.

B10 team rankings so far;
#102 Minnesota (lowest BCS conference school)
#89 IU
#74 Purdue
#56 Illinois
#48 Nowthwestern

They are up to #41 today so that means they think the suck up north is at least one of the 40 best teams in CFB this year.
