2011 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

Does somebody know something about Texas A&M that I don't?

I don't get it, that's for sure, but I'm guessing it's the love affair the ESPNs are having with Tannehill.

They beat an over-rated Oklahoma last year and an over-rated Nebraska in what was one of the ugliest games of the year.

I'm counting on the Razorbacks to make them their women again this year.

Losing by 9 in the Rose Bowl and 3 on a last second play in the NC game isn't what I'd call piss poor.

Oregon's forte' (if you will) hallmark, identity etc etc - is "Offense". "Spread". "Points" "Speed"

In their last two BCS game against teams with a defensive pulse their offense has failed too carry them and their true weakness in the redzone is revealed.

Yeah, I'd call it piss poor myself. I mean, we lost to LSU then Texas and how badly was the team slammed for that? Especially given how incredibly competitive the Fiesta Bowl was.

Don't feel bad about the Texas game. They have enough $$$ to come up winners in most contests . I was rooting for you guys in that one.

As far as LSU - The voodoo-whoodoo got ya on that one. I'm convinced Les has a soothsayer or something with the way that guy wins games.

Ohio St writeup:

Key returnees: QB Terrelle Pryor, RB Boom Herron, WR DeVier Posey, OT Mike Adams, C Mike Brewster, DE Nathan Williams, LB Tyler Moeller Spring star: LB Etienne Sabino

Spring recap: Surprised the Buckeyes didn't drop more? With everything swirling around the program now, it's difficult at first blush to believe Ohio State could compete for the Big Ten title. But ask yourself this: Which Big Ten program is better? If Ohio State had a settled coaching situation and if five of its best players weren't suspended for the first five games, it wouldn't be a stretch to rank the Buckeyes No. 1. The decision to make linebackers coach Luke Fickell the interim coach during Jim Tressel's five-game suspension was a wise one. Fickell, an up-and-comer who probably should already be a head coach, has the respect of the team. If things get bumpy early -- on-field because of a depleted lineup or off-field because of Tressel's NCAA trouble -- Fickell won't lose the locker room. This team has plenty of talent. Mike Brewster might be the best center in the country. Tight end Jake Stoneburner is an intriguing weapon as a pass-catcher. Redshirt freshman tailback Rod Smith could be a breakout star with starter Boom Herron suspended. Even if Tressel doesn't return to the sidelines -- a distinct possibility, given the history of the NCAA violation of which Tressel stands accused -- the Buckeyes are in good hands in 2011.

Cont'd ...

The ranking for South Carolina is ludicrous. Marcus Lattimore is vastly over-rated and Stephen Garcia is still Stephen Garcia.

And until I see LSU with an actual QB, they are way too high as well.

MissStake is probably too low. They should be ahead of Auburn. I expect them to be a very tough out this year.

I don't see how people think even 10 is "high". The defense will still be stellar. We lose offensive players, but tOSU RELOADS every year. This gives opportunities for our others to shine. We lose TP, that's great, but I remember Krenzel first year as a starter we won a National Championship, oh, and I remember TP first year as a starter, we go to the Fiesta Bowl and lose in the last 16 seconds. I honestly think 10 is too low, I see us in the 6-8 range.

Now, Oklahoma #1 on every preseason poll I've seen...that's BS. They rolled on a 4-loss UCONN team in the Orange Bowl and they are dubbed #1? No way. No way. Every freakin year Oklahoma is a "great" team, just to go down or lose a BCS game. Alabama will be tough, and that'd be the only team I'd go with as #1.

Keep in mind the time Krenzel had in the offensive system & with the team.

Compare that too Braxton or even KG and Graham.

Fact is, Craig (for all his clutch moments) rode behind one of the best defenses of the BCS era for that championship. While this years looks to be very good - I don't think you'll see that type of unit again for some time.

10 is just fine with me. The season will solve any problems we may or may not have with that.

As for the Sooners. They did beat up on a crappy Uconn. Looked pretty average in the early going as well. That offense is nasty though - I don't have much issue seeing them at #1 for a bit.
