Buckeneye;1859835; said:Unless he comes in around 295ish, he's still best suited as a 5 technique DE.
But hey, he has the burst, strength and pursuit to make a fine 4-3 DT.
Either way though, the 8th best DE? Especially after that bowl performance - somebody's gotta be high.
LSU CB Patrick Peterson made an appearance at the Senior Bowl this week, and told folks in Mobile that he'll run a sub-4.3 forty at February's Combine.
Peterson obviously can't participate because he's an underclassman, but he touched base with scouts and personnel types. Listed at 6'1/222 as a collegiate, Peterson also says he's down to 211 pounds. There was concern Peterson might be unable to stay at corner at his listed weight. Regardless, a sub-4.3 forty at 6'1/211 would be freakish for the surefire top-five pick.

Miami (FL) DE Allen Bailey has reportedly been "nothing but ordinary" in Senior Bowl practices.
Bailey is a manchild getting off the bus at a shredded 6'3/278, but it's hard to be surprised. His production as a 'Cane was also ordinary, one of the reasons NFL Network's Mike Mayock isn't high on him. In recent years, Miami players have built an underachiever's reputation due to poor coaching.

SI's Tony Pauline suggests that Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick has pushed his draft stock into the second round at the Senior Bowl.
FOX Sports' Adam Caplan has repeatedly called Kaepernick the "best QB on the field" in Mobile. It's in contrast to Jake Locker, whom Caplan believes may have the worst accuracy of any Senior Bowl passer. Pauline mentions the Dolphins and Vikings as having shown the greatest interest in Kaepernick. The Palm Beach Post confirmed that the Fins think particularly "highly" of him.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, "early signs" are that Texas A&M OLB Von Miller will be a top-five pick.
Added NFL Network's Mike Mayock, "He's got top-ten pass rush skills." Miller has also shown impressive cover ability in Senior Bowl practices. This April, the Panthers draft first, the Broncos draft second, the Bills third, Bengals fourth, and Cardinals fifth. It's not crazy to think Miller could be drafted by Buffalo, and at this point seems unlikely he'd get by Arizona.

ESPN's Mel Kiper says he "knows" Redskins coach Mike Shanahan had a "high opinion" of Washington QB Jake Locker in 2010.
Kiper is not high on Locker, however, and compared him to Kyle Boller. He believes Cam Newton would be a better Redskins pick. Locker's senior-year regression as a passer and shaky Senior Bowl have draftniks like Kiper and FOX Sports' Adam Caplan wondering if he's even worthy of a first-round pick.

Behind quarterback, GM Marty Hurney called defensive tackle the Panthers' No. 2 need entering the offseason.
The Panthers have so many needs that they shouldn't struggle to draft the best player available. They're meeting Tuesday night with LSU CB Patrick Peterson. Hurney did call Auburn DT Nick Fairley "obviously ... an impact player inside." The Panthers are sticking with a 4-3, so Fairley would play the "three technique" position, where incumbent Derek Landri is a free agent.

6. Cleveland Browns - Georgia WR A.J. Green
New Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur knows what it's like calling plays without a dominant, No. 1-caliber receiver, and it isn't much fun. A silky smooth deep threat at 6'4/212, Green is NFL-ready after mastering Mark Richt's aggressive pro-style offense to the tune of 15.78 yards per catch and 23 touchdown receptions in 28 college starts. There's not a better wideout in this year's class.
