2011 In-state Players to Watch

The best thing about Ohio high school recruiting is seeing the best and the brightest players matriculate to The Ohio State University. The second best thing (1A really) is seeing the other Ohio HS players land schollies to other schools, ensuring the legacy of Ohio players around the nation. When BSB puts out the list of DI schools, I always see OSU at the top or near the top, but, I truly enjoy the list of all the Ohio boys and where they are going. I see some elite schools mixed up in there as well as our Ohio cadre of universities. Ohio has more D-I schools than anyone except Texas, now Florida is tied with us, and I'm pretty sure more than California.....just an early morning observation about the good things that our Ohio HS are doing for our kids.

Go Bucks, go Ohio

Lexington's Michael, Another Ricky Stanzi (Mentor Lake Catholic/Iowa)?

As I watched Ricky Stanzi his junior year at Mentor (Ohio) Lake Catholic, I liked him, but thought he was almost too skinny. He was usually on target and his passes had some velocity. No problem with the touch pass. Moved around in the pocket. Liked his QB presence. Honestly, thought that he was too slender. Now, he leads Iowa as one of the top teams in the Big Ten. Lexington's Collin Michael (QB-212) may or may not be another Ricky Stanzi, but has many of the same qualities that Stanzi had as a prep QB.

Last Friday, I watched as Collin played his first game, since injurying his knee in week three. A lean 6'5 and 210 he moved well in the pocket. Although some rustiness was evident, he showed good QB presence and at times made defenders miss. Now, he is not going to beat you with his feet, but as he continues to get stronger, he will be an improved runner.

AROUND OHIO 2010

Scout $ - Teague's Stock Is Rising

10/31

By The Bank...his coach says his grades are improving...also talks about what a great person he is, as well as tremendous football talent...calls him the second best player he's ever coaches behind Clarett (and ahead of guys like Turner, Manningham, Burgess, etc.).

Considering Manningham is in the NFL, that is a very strong statement by the coach!

South FM crushes Mariner

South Fort Myers had high expectations heading into the 2010 season, but no one predicted this. The Wolfpack beat Mariner 50-7 Friday night to finish off their amazing undefeated season.

Senior Dallas Crawford threw two long touchdown passes, ran for one score and added an interception in his final high school regular-season game.

The tone of the game was decided early as the Wolfpack needed just two plays after a long kick return to go ahead 7-0, on a nine-yard run by William Donalson.

Ohio defender Max Pirman switches from Hoosiers to Huskers

Max Pirman, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker/defensive end from Orrville, Ohio, has pledged to Nebraska's Class of 2011 after decommitting from Indiana.

"I'm not one to let people down," Pirman told the Lincoln Journal Star. "It was one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make. On Sunday morning (after attending a Nebraska game), it really hit me, my heart was somewhere else."

Kansas, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Kent State, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan also offered the three-star prospect.

Pirman is the 17th commitment for the Huskers.
