NC over michigan state is the last time i can think of...off the top of my head i think that is the year that all 4 #1 seeds made the final four but that could be the year before Carolina beat Sparty

All the disrespect OSU got for not being a traditional basketball powerhouse and that they shouldn't be #1. That Texas or Kansas should be atop the polls, now this...What a great night to make up for Saturday!

No way we when out, I see a likely 3 and 3 over the next 6.
Really? You're either an extreme pessimist or an opposing fan disguising yourself as a tOSU fan by "cleverly" using "we". It took Wisconsin shooting out of their minds to knock tOSU off by a few points at home. That was nothing to do with the Buckeyes, nobody can beat a team that is shooting like that or getting the bounces they were getting.

WTF is it with everyone in the media all over Texas' collective jocks? They have not one, but two, home losses and an asskicking at an unranked opponent. We have only one loss, at a top-10 team in a game that everyone in the media predicted we'd lose.

I don't have too much problems falling below Kansas (though we could easily argue that we're still the better 1-loss team between the two), but falling below a 3-loss Texas team in one poll and being one [censored]ing point above them in the other is flat out idiotic...

Because in their last 17 games, they are 16-1 with a loss to a top 10 team in overtime that they would have beaten if they didn't shoot 60% from the line.

But more importantly, because they are scary, scary good defensively. Since that overtime loss to UConn, they have allowed more than 60 points in a game once- when they beat #1 Kansas at Kansas. Kansas scored 63 points. And the stats are very very telling, but actually watching them is even more powerful- they just don't ever give up anything remotely resembling an easy basket. Everything scored on them is a "how the hell did he make that shot over that guy" basket.

In my head, us and Texas are the clear #1 and #2 teams in the country in some order, and I'm fine with either order honestly. And I really don't want to play them in one game for the national title (especially because that game would almost definitely be in Houston).

[sarcasm] No way that Kansas should drop in the polls for losing that game. They should stay at #1 until they lose 3 or 4 more games. In fact I would drop the Buckeyes another spot or two because Kansas lost.[/sarcasm]

Kind of off topic, but when was the last time a #1 overall seed won the tourney? I think it's happened recently but before that, it's been several years I think. The polls don't bother me personally, b/c I honestly believe tOSU is the best team right now. Records don't mean jack

Florida in 2007 was the only #1 overall seed to win the title. The #1 overall seed wasn't done prior to 2004.

In 2004, Ky was #1 overall, but UConn beat Ga Tech in the final.
In 2005, Illinois was #1 overall but lost to NC in the final.
In 2006, Duke was #1 overall but Florida beat UCLA.

In 2008, NC was the #1 overall, but in the final Kansas beat Memphis (later had their season vacated).
In 2009, when NC beat Sparty, Louisville was the #1 overall seed.
In 2010, Kansas was the #1 overall seed but got beat by Northern Iowa. Duke beat Butler in the final.
