New Coaches' Poll:

1. Kansas (14) 753
2. Texas (13) 746
3. OSU (3) 706
4. Pitt (1) 697
5. Duke 647

Kind of surprised that OSU is behind Texas, considering the following:

Texas has 3 losses: home against #4 Pitt (by 2 points), at unranked USC (by 17 points) and home against #12 UConn (by 1 point)

OSU has 1 loss: at #10 Wisconsin (by 4 points)

I'm even more surprised that OSU is just barely above Pitt.

agree with all this...its so dumb...i can see kansas being above us but not texas...i dont care if texas beat kansas or not, they still have 3 losses...i would be more pissed if this was football but its not so i dont care as much...as long as we can get a #1 seed and win the big 10, then i will be happy

Agreed. The voters are always tough the week after a first loss of the season.

Nothing to worry about though, because Ohio State plays the toughest game this week out of anyone in the top 10: At Purdue (to be fair, #10 Wiscy is also playing at Purdue this week). Wins over MSU and Purdue will win over some voters. Wouldn't be surprised to see us jump Texas, even if Texas wins their games in convincing fashion.

We're not close to Pitt, we almost two places above them on the average ballot. Just win out. Beat Purdue and all will be forgiven.

Texas is getting lots of rep as the best team in college basketball. It's a lot easier to reach the ultimate goal when you aren't the undefeated #1 team.

I'm looking forward to coming weeks!

#2 in the AP poll, only 13 points behind Kansas and 1 point ahead of Texas. Just keep winning.

WTF is it with everyone in the media all over Texas' collective jocks? They have not one, but two, home losses and an asskicking at an unranked opponent. We have only one loss, at a top-10 team in a game that everyone in the media predicted we'd lose.

I don't have too much problems falling below Kansas (though we could easily argue that we're still the better 1-loss team between the two), but falling below a 3-loss Texas team in one poll and being one fucking point above them in the other is flat out idiotic...

Another point on Texas--not that it's their fault, but they're the beneficiary of a Big XII scheduling break this year in that they only play once against each of the other top two teams in the conference (Kansas and Missouri).

Kansas is in second place in the Big XII...but they're #1 in the country.

Another example of why it's good the polls are NOT part of the tournament selection process.

As was said, win the Big Ten and get a #1 seed. The rest is meaningless. The tournament will decide it.

Kansas is losing right now, i know its early but i dont think Kansas, Texas or tOSU is going to go unbeaten from here on out.

as long as Kansas loses by a margin greater then 4, then they shouldnt drop any in the rankings since they are on the road and facing a unranked team

Kind of off topic, but when was the last time a #1 overall seed won the tourney? I think it's happened recently but before that, it's been several years I think. The polls don't bother me personally, b/c I honestly believe tOSU is the best team right now. Records don't mean jack
