Michigan recruit Dorsey reportedly charged with two felonies in 2008 - Sporting News staff reports - College Football - Sporting News

Michigan recruit Demar Dorsey was charged, but not convicted, with two felonies a month apart in Florida's Broward County in 2008, the Detroit Free Press reports a day after the defensive back committed to play for the Wolverines.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, at his press conference to discuss his recruiting class, defended the signing of Dorsey, saying his program looked into the recruit's background and was comfortable having him on the team.

There was alot of discussion of this subject about a week before signing day in one of the threads at MGOblog. I would have mentioned it but I didn't think they would land Dorsey. A couple guys were really concerned about bringing in such a shaky charactor. Most were just hoping to grab a stud safety prospect at any cost. Probably the most entertaining part of the discussion was when one poster pointed out that if OSU or MSU or whoever was recruiting such a deviant, that the scUM boards would be having a field day ridiculing the competion.

If the Pat Lazeer situation was any clue, I can't imagine Tressel recruiting a guy like Dorsey once his history was known. I guess we all know who did continue to recruit Lazeer as well as Dorsey. :wink2:
