UM fans on GBW are always incensed at the silly, harmless violations about practicing too much and the RR witchhunt from the media over it. So naturally they react this way about once every day or two when a similar axe could be grinded against Sparty:
Gholston wearing more than a helmet???

It's quite obvious that those are the fancy
new compression shirts with padding built in, and not actual pads (what shoulder pads are 1-2 inches thick?).

When did their practices start?
No one engages in my hyperbole about the frivolity and unfair approach to RR's violations, yet is almost always among the first to squeal for the start of a crusade against others over the same topic.

It's from their media day, which was yeasterday I believe. I linked the article as well.

Yes, he definitely has padding underneath his jersey. Ah hah, Dantonio - caught!
Yep, and they started practice on Monday, so that was within the first 2 days of practice. Looks like a clear-cut NCAA violation to me. Who's going to report it? It would be hilarious to see THEM and St. D*****tonio investigated
ereichen said:
I swear some of you don't get it. Everybody can sh** on us for technical rules violations, but we shouldn't care about what anybody else does?

Who cares. There obviously not shoulder pads. Maybe he has a bad shoulder and needs the protection? I used something similar when I dislocated my shoulder. Could be a precautionary pad.
Like usual, when someone dares to go against the frothing mob, they are met with such understanding and intelligent rebuttals.

And yes- I'm so sick of Michigan getting dinged for petty crap someone please turn in MSU for this secondary violation!!

Looks like Greg Jones is wearing padding as well

Subject: Possible Violation
Ma'am,
I do not know if this is the correct place to identify a possible violation. But in viewing the Michigan State Spartan Media day article posted by MLive.com, Joel Hawksley | The Grand Rapids Press; entitled Photos: Michigan State football media day, dated (Published: Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 1:30 AM Updated: Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 1:40 AM). It appears that Freshman player #2 William Gholston according to the University's 2010 football roster (http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ms u-m-footbl-mtt.html) is wearing protective padding underneath his jersey
(http://photos.mlive.com/grandrapidspress/2010/08/ michigan_state_football_media_6.html). According to the article and photo dates and the University's football schedule this would have taken place on the second day of Fall camp and wearing such apparatus is a violation of rule 17.9.2.3 sub-section 'd' of the NCAA Manual which states:
"During the first two days of the acclimatization period, helmets shall be the only piece of protective equipment student-athletes may wear."
Thank you for your assistance.

I could care less is Vernon Gholston is wearing a little bit of padding on his chest. There not shoulder pads nor are they hitting in practice. Again, I could really care less about Michigan state or if one of their players has a half inch pad on .
Then.......... BE GONE!

Does not matter what the reason is it is a violation of ncaa regs.

Well Miller I do...and Vernon was at OSU

Uhhh hello. Are you guys serious??? Its the underarmour gear. The stuff they sell at dicks and online. I have them for basketball. They make it for all parts of the body. McDavid makes them too. They aren't football pads. I'm more worried about improving this team than mspoos underwear.
You'd think people would start getting the point, but no

I could care less if he's wearing his Grandma's bra w/ a prosthetic breast in it, if its padding its padding, and better yet if I can get Sparty some love and attention - well then let me spread the love. They could very well come back and say its allowed or a non-situation.
Grammar and reading comprehension are not his strong suits.

Those thigh pads are actually built into the girdle. willing to bet most girdles nowadays are made that way.
Congratulations GBW, you've fostered quite an environment of stupidity, insecurity and finger pointing. They've learned from the best.
