This is my favorite response, if only for its predictability:
Don't worry about the knock on perception your program is taking from all the losing and sudden inability to get more than a player or two drafted each cycle, worry instead about what would happen if Morgan Trent were drafted in the 5th round and turned out to be a pretty lackluster NFL safety/corner. Unbelievable.

Not starting a walkon QB who couldn't complete 2 yard rollout passes was beneficial. Of course he was better at it than the Coner.

Lastly, Angelique Chengelis wrote a piece about the one "make-or-break" game on Michigan's schedule this year, and she chose Michigan State as that maker or breaker. I don't have much of a problem with pointing out the importance of the Spartan game, because it's huge for all of the reasons that she notes. However, I don't think there really is a "make-or-break" game on Michigan's schedule, because, in reality, Michigan is already broken. What will a loss to Michigan State do, break Michigan into even smaller pieces? There are only "make-or-continue to break" games on the schedule. The fact that people are pointing (and hoping) towards a seven or eight-win season is proof enough of the damage done. Do you realize that Minnesota and Michigan have virtually identical goals for 2010? And by 2011, Chengelis may have to point out the one "make-or-pulverize-already-broken-pieces-into-dust game."

There were many reports that Trent didn't buy in, and sure didn't make it a very easy transition. He was stuck in the country club atmosphere and tried to blow up the team when RichRod and Co. came in. When it started going bad, he only fueled the fire, and thus resulted in bad blood between he and RRod. Bottom line is, he didn't mesh well with Rich and figured that being lazy and not buying in would be constructive to his cause of getting RichRod canned. Maybe he should see the writing on the wall as to why he would not have the best things said about him. It may not have been the best for RichRod to be so blunt in saying he was lazy, etc, but if that is what he felt, he didn't hold back. Both are to blame here, but this should stop more and more when players who came to play for Rich leave for the draft and don't have to compare to staffs.

Those mgoblog comments are like an ecapsulation of every form of delusion that permeates M*ch*g*n these days. They're talking about secondary struggles in the past tense, saying that RichRod pissed people off because he worked them harder (failing to see the distinction between working harder and working overtime) and completely forgetting about all the tiny boners they had over Morgan Trent a few years ago to make sure they don't look like they're not quite "all in" for 2010 in front of their friends.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's always a great time to be a M*ch*g*n hater, but right now is especially sweet (and entertaining).
