Well.. bad example.. everyone is faster than Navarre...

A Former Miami Hurricane QB that played for the Browns begs to differ. (Although I did get Bernie Kosar to be the league leading rusher in Madden 2003 utilizing throwback teams for a full season.)

Kosar would be a lot faster than Navarre if he (Kosar) wasn't sauced up all the time. It's tough to cross a finish line when you're just spinning in drunken circles.

Undrafted Donovan Warren determined to show Jets he belongs in NFL | - NJ.com
“Every decision is a gamble,” said Warren’s godfather, Mark Carrier, who was hired as the Jets’ defensive line coach this offseason. “I don’t think he regretted it. Obviously, I think he wished things worked out a little bit different for him. But . . . the Michigan he went to wasn’t there anymore. For him to go back, was that going to be more of a burden?”

After the draft, the 5-11, 195-pound Warren drew interest from the Dolphins, Vikings and Seahawks.

But he embraced the Jets — and a position switch.

“He’s a smart kid,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “We’re playing him in both spots — corner and safety — but I think his best shot will be as a safety. He was probably the highest-rated player (on our board) that was still left.”

U-M sports blog: Morgan Trent's path to NFL wasn't helped by Rich Rod's report | freep.com | Detroit Free Press
The book chronicles the journeys of several eventual draft picks in 2009, including Trent.
...
“Rodriguez had bad-mouthed him to every NFL scout he could,” Deren writes. “Rodriguez claimed that Morgan was lazy, he had an attitude problem and he was a big reason the Wolverines finished with a 3-9 record…”

This is my favorite response, if only for its predictability:

I'd prefer RR be honest about a player being lazy and not worth the draft spot than lie to scouts and wind up with a player busting in the NFL because he falsely talked them up. I don't think RR is one of those coaches.

Don't worry about the knock on perception your program is taking from all the losing and sudden inability to get more than a player or two drafted each cycle, worry instead about what would happen if Morgan Trent were drafted in the 5th round and turned out to be a pretty lackluster NFL safety/corner. Unbelievable.

Not starting a walkon QB who couldn't complete 2 yard rollout passes was beneficial. Of course he was better at it than the Coner.

I'm actually going to be miss the Coner. If Michigan starts off horrible this year and doesn't improve from last year.......I say start him in a game. Maybe against Purdue or Illinois. The legend of David Cone has to go out with a bang. If we aren't going to be good, lets at least have some fun.

Tony Gerdeman at the-ozone.net has a good take on the notion of UM having a "make-or-brake" game in 2010.

The-Ozone, Ohio State Football, Wrestling, Softball, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball and More

Lastly, Angelique Chengelis wrote a piece about the one "make-or-break" game on Michigan's schedule this year, and she chose Michigan State as that maker or breaker. I don't have much of a problem with pointing out the importance of the Spartan game, because it's huge for all of the reasons that she notes. However, I don't think there really is a "make-or-break" game on Michigan's schedule, because, in reality, Michigan is already broken. What will a loss to Michigan State do, break Michigan into even smaller pieces? There are only "make-or-continue to break" games on the schedule. The fact that people are pointing (and hoping) towards a seven or eight-win season is proof enough of the damage done. Do you realize that Minnesota and Michigan have virtually identical goals for 2010? And by 2011, Chengelis may have to point out the one "make-or-pulverize-already-broken-pieces-into-dust game."

Can he run the option better than Boeckman vs USC?

Toast
Toast, why hast thou forsaken UM.... Toast should be thankful he is where he is. I dont think anyone prior to his senior season would have thought he would be NFL bound. Could it be that diarrhea of the mouth Toast was running his mouth about RR and RR may have said some things in response...that certainly cant be true...

Very true
There were many reports that Trent didn't buy in, and sure didn't make it a very easy transition. He was stuck in the country club atmosphere and tried to blow up the team when RichRod and Co. came in. When it started going bad, he only fueled the fire, and thus resulted in bad blood between he and RRod. Bottom line is, he didn't mesh well with Rich and figured that being lazy and not buying in would be constructive to his cause of getting RichRod canned. Maybe he should see the writing on the wall as to why he would not have the best things said about him. It may not have been the best for RichRod to be so blunt in saying he was lazy, etc, but if that is what he felt, he didn't hold back. Both are to blame here, but this should stop more and more when players who came to play for Rich leave for the draft and don't have to compare to staffs.

Me fail English?? That's un-possible!! - Ralph Wiggum

Those mgoblog comments are like an ecapsulation of every form of delusion that permeates M*ch*g*n these days. They're talking about secondary struggles in the past tense, saying that RichRod pissed people off because he worked them harder (failing to see the distinction between working harder and working overtime) and completely forgetting about all the tiny boners they had over Morgan Trent a few years ago to make sure they don't look like they're not quite "all in" for 2010 in front of their friends.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's always a great time to be a M*ch*g*n hater, but right now is especially sweet (and entertaining).
