2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

...and I love pointing out how just about everything we said would happen (he would force feed them his system, he ignored defense, he couldn't really recruit as well as they said he would, he'd try to get by with borderline kids, he's an ignorant goofball scumbag, he poops his pants in big games, probation), is happening. It's kind of eerie, really.

Only two corrections to this post:

1. Somehow... his only success so far is at a defensive position (DE). So, although I agree that RichRod is way too offensively focused, he obviously doesn't ignore defense.
2. I thought it was Joe Pa who pooped his pants in big games... :wink2:

Screw Michigan.

Screw Michigan. Yes!

Mine.

One more way to put UMs recruiting in perspective -

If rumors hold, despite being light years ahead of UM already, OSU will get commits from twice as many top 20 rated recruits THIS WEEK as UM has in their class to date.

Its time for a detailed look at how UM recruiting is going. One position at a time and using info from Scout:

QB:
9 offers
5 have committed elsewhere (including their top 4)
Thier only hit is Sousa - their lowest rated offer and a kid some are already talking could be converted to a LB or TE (AT 6'4" Aand 235 he certainly isn't the RR prototype QB).

RB:
9 offers
2 have gone elsewhere
no hits

WR:
15 offers
4 going elsewhere
1 hit - #50 rated Conway

TE:
3 offers
2 going elsewhere
no hits

OT:
11 offers
top 4 going elsewhere
no hits

OG;
7 offers
2 misses
0 hits

C:
2 offers
1 miss
0 hits

DT:
13 offers
7 misses (3 to OSU)
0 hits

DE:
17 offers (really - 17)
4 misses
3 hits - including #13 Brennen Byer
This looks like THE success story of their recruiting season to date.

OLB:
10 offers
1 miss
0 hits

MLB:
7 offers
2 misses
0 hits

S:
7 offers
2 misses
0 hits

CB:
12 offers
1 miss
2 hits - the #35 and #41 at the position

K:
1 offer
1 miss

To be sure, it is early and most of the kids on their wish list are uncommitted. But nobody doubts they will fill their class. The question is "With what?" As pointed out above their track record on quality kids is pretty poor right now.

As for their rivals:

OSU has commits from 15 kids and 13 are rated in the top 30 at their positions.

ND has 12 with 7 in the top 30

Even MSU who has only 6 recruits has landed 2 who are top 30, including the #1 rated MLB in the nation from right in UMs own back yard.

(UM has 7 with 1 top 30 player.)

I love doing this.

15 - 13
1 - 7

damn that is a lot of offers. Which states is he avoiding? Just for fun he should offer at least 1 prospect in all 50 states. Maybe some Eskimos in Alaska are worthy of an offer. It could help us get tougher.

Are they not trying when it comes to recruiting? I would think Michigan would be able to recruit a lot better due to prestige, resources, and facilities despite some off seasons. I still think RR he is a plant. Bill Martin must have some dirt that we don't know about.

More bad news for RRod. He actually signed this Conway:

Quit picking on RR.

Don't chastise Michigan football for its recruiting practices

Do you have a problem with Michigan recruiting "borderline" players who ultimately don't have the academic numbers to get into school? Should U-M be "above that"?
cont'd

And this self-righteous closing statement:

And rest assured that any kid Michigan might pass on would be scooped up quickly by the Buckeyes and the gap between the two schools would grow wider, not smaller.

Hey Samuelsen, don't let the facts get in the way of a mediocre story.
