2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

Not only the offering of guys who did not/were not going qualify, but the adbundance of slots/rb we have offered the last 3 years also comes into question. I remember questioning the staff 2 years ago on scout about this issue and ended up getting reamed out by the posters and mods over their.

It's not his fault. You can't blame RR because Woolfolk got hurt or Cissoko had character issues or Turner couldn't cut it or Dorsey wasn't all that bright.

As far as I can see - and I think the "All In" crowd will support me on this - RR's tenure STARTS NOW!

If he can't put together a top 25 program in the next four years - complete with the secondary he has been denied through NO FAULT OF HIS OWN - then we can start talking about the possible need for change.

Alamo Bowl in 2014 - or Else!

Luckily David Brandon does not think like that.

I was completely serious about 4-5 years. I think that the administration and fans up there are so full of themselves that they will ignore the obvious for that long. "We're better than that! We don't just fire coaches without giving them a chance!" is the philosophy. The bottom line is this: whatever you think about RR's offense and his ability to call plays (and I'm not convinced that he's terrible in this regard), he clearly is not fit to run a major program. He lacks the integrity, attention to detail, and character to do it. There is now ample evidence to this effect. They can go on blaming Carr for as long as they like, but nothing that Carr did has any effect on how poorly Rodriguez has recruited, managed talent, and adhered to the rules.

He's going to survive this year, despite winning 3 games. That's fucking hilarious, and I'm 100% sure that it's true.

I have no idea where you got that idea, because most of ann arbor wanted him fired after last season, and anything short of 7-8 wins and good showings against their rivals will spell his exit.

He is a hated man up north, cursed by boosters & alienated by alumni.

He doesn't have a prayer at another year with merely 6 wins, let alone 3.

He hasn't just lost to OSU twice, he's lost to little ole Sparty, Purdue & Illinois both years. He's lost to Toledo, and been humiliated by Wisconsin in 09 & OSU in 08. He's used up all of his grace that Michigan would typically extend, more than most schools.

There's little evidence that they'll definitely be back to the unacceptable Carr level of 9-3 in 2011, with the trainwreck that the defense has become. RR has recruited some DBs, but has opted for DBs to fill his LB positions instead of landing pure LBs. They have some weakside / hybrid types, but do not have the men in the middle. The ones they do have are mediocre veterans with little accountability for playing time because the talent behind them is so poor. Demens is one of the few exceptions, but he doesn't seem to get to play, and the young blood at ILB is very average.

I never said he deserved more time, but I honestly believe that the administration up there is so stupid and arrogant that they will do this, alumni be damned.

Not if Harbaugh is atop the pac-10 and national recruiting rankings. I'm not sure if that is enough to qualify one for the Michigan job, but it should make the pressure enormous to switch.

It would be fucking epic if they canned Rodriguez and Harbaugh proceeded to turn them down, leaving them scrambling for a coach exactly like they were when they hired Rodriguez in the first place.

jwins--you really think he needs 7 or 8 wins AND good showings against MSU, ND, and tOSU?

For some reason, I don't think they'll be that strict with him. I think 6 wins, with one of them being over MSU, ND or OSU (despite how much he gets shelled in the other two rival games) or 7-5 (even with losses to each of MSU, ND or OSU) and they'll keep him around for '11.

From what his father is saying, it certainly sounds like a season-ending injury. Best of luck to Troy in his recovery.

For those that don't remember him, Butch was a solid TSUN RB with excellent speed. He was All-Big Ten 3 times and won the 1981 Rose Bowl MVP. He held the NFL record for most carries in a game for a while in the 80s, until that record was broken by Jamie Morris, who had also broken Butch's career rushing record at TSUN.

CBS

Woolfolk's father Butch told the Detroit Free Press that his son dislocated his ankle and had bone and ligament damage. Butch Woolfolk was a Wolverines running back and played for the NFL's New York Giants, Houston Oilers and Detroit Lions.
