Interesting post from EFWolverine (who I think has posterd here in the past) over on umgoblue.com:

Echoes almost word-for-word what many of us have said here many times over...

See that's what confuses the shit outta me about Rich Rod.. if you gave him just a middle of the pack D, come next year his O would be good enough to win 10 games consistently.. But we're just not that (noticably) interested in defense. I've yet to see a big hit (from somebody other then Cam Gordon, but he's wrapped up probably twice this entire year) and even proper gap control from most of the LBs. We CONSISTENTLY turn -4 yards into 1, 0 yards into 8, 3 yards in 10, 8 yard stops (to Martin yesterday) into a 15 yard first down on 3rd and 12.. It's gotten to the point where regardless of whether it's 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 15, I'm SURPRISED if we actually stop them.

Oh and I'm not trying to defend his 'attention only to the O' because I'm a big defensive person myself; (I played FS in high school so that's naturally my favorite position on the field) but Chip Kelly had Oregon had a quote 2-3 games back where he was interviewed at halftime about what was going wrong on D and he said something along the lines of "I don't know; I only work with the offense. You'd have to ask the D-Coordinator." Yeah Oregon takes a shit on Michigan talent-wise defensively but the difference there is, I bet the D-Coordinator actually has a say in what he gets to call..

This is just so frustrating because we could have a quality team if we had ANY defense, but we don't.. I've been a big supporter of RichRod as our Head Coach, and I will continue to be until he's gone, but it's just so frustrating to watch a completely average team in some Cream Puff Conference play better gap control, flow to the ball, stout tackling D then us.

But I'm just venting.. hopefully they can prove me wrong next week versus Iowa.

Aliotti DOES run the defense. It's not elite, but it's consistent.

GBW - Scout $

10/10 ... UM leads for RB/Slot DeVondrick Nealy after the MSU visit, overtaking Arkansas and leading Auburn & Tenn.

GBW - Scout $

10/10 ... Doran Grant liked his visit, may visit UM officially.

Despite the usual leading questions about what should attract him to UM (and trademark omission of OSU), his quotes don't hide his affinity for MSU.

Everyone close to this recruitment knows where he's headed, and it's not the two schools he watched on Saturday.

Linthicum nearly rumbled for about 60+ yds on a basic 10 yd completion when Cam whiffed on the kill shot. I believe Floyd got just enough of the TE or he'd still be running.

Eh, they've cooled on him anyway. Funny how the articles about him are coming fast and furious on gbw these days. :roll1:

Some of you may remember the awful TECHFIT Powerweb pants from Saturday:

http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/041710aab.html
Pants: Will have adidas TECHFITTM PowerWeb technology incorporated into the pants. PowerWeb is designed to focus a muscle's energy to generate maximum explosive power, acceleration and endurance, while compressing and cooling simultaneously with Clima zones. The pant will have a color block design created by adidas sports marketing and IU.
I'm curious if they'll skip that this time around.

Lloyd Carr left this team with some very irritating gaps; specifically at safety and linebacker (talking just defense here). But under Rich Rodriguez's "guidance", every single thing about the defense has swirled the drain. There is not a single redeeming quality here. They aren't strong, they aren't fast, they don't tackle well, they don't take proper angles, they don't play assignment football, they don't contain, they don't force turnovers, they don't do ANYTHING. They simply occupy space until the offense has to take the field again.

Pants that focus muscle energy to maximize explosive power, acceleration, and endurance?

Get the fuck out of here. :shake:

It took me til the end of the first half to realize that those funky marks on the back of IU's pants were actually supposed to be there and not just sweat stains.

Fugly. Very fugly.

Looks like all they did was add some sort of silicone to the fabric.
