2010 TSUN News (in-season)

The topic right now on 97.1 in Detroit is what QB would you rather have for this year on your college team -- Pryor, Denard or Mallet. The one host, Mike Valenti, said it's a no brainer you pick Pryor but it's been pretty funny to hear some of the feedback from him saying that. (Valenti is a huge MSU fan and all scUM fans around here hate him, which adds to the reactions to this topic.)

I think what Mike is saying is that a top RB recruit can see that they are in dire need of a running back and need one pronto. Early playing time is always a consideration for a top recruit.
Well then, M*ch*g*n should have had the #1 recruiting class over the last few years

Depends what the rest of my team looks like and what system I'm running.
QB-1A: Ryan Mallet 50% of snaps
QB-1B: Terrelle Pryor 50% of snaps
WR/RB: Denard Robinson

Actually, sounds a lot like my NCAA video game team.

How bad is UMASS?

I'm smelling a let down game for UM. Denard is a good kid and clearly one hell of an athlete...but someone is going to solve a defensive game plan for him..or he is going to have an off day...and then where will UM be?

He is fun to watch...but the team still feels flawed to me. They were in a very similar spot last year..but while the QB is clearly better, the rest of the team feels even more tenuous to me for some reason....

It will be interesting to see what IU does against them in a few weeks. The Hoosiers are not good...but much like UM they are decent on O and trash on D. Chappell is experienced and they have some decent WRs.....I don't know if IU is going to beat the Wolvs...but I think that is going to be a hell of a game. And I think Chappell will manage his O well against UM's D.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. UM has no chance of losing to either UMass or BG. And the way they're playing, I'd say they're a favorite to win both of IU and MSU. Could be looking at a 6-0 start thanks to a little good luck and [censored] performances by each of UConn and ND.

if we win, the team we played sucked, if we lose, we were shown to be overrated. It'll be that way until we finally beat osu.

end of story.

if UMASS is the team to "solve a defensive game plan" for Denard, I would be surprised.

My hope is we don't see Denard past halftime. Big 10 play will be brutal, like last year, and our backups will need to see some time. We were rolling last season until Tate hurt his shoulder vs Indiana, then it all unraveled. That's not what we need again. Get him in, get him out.

Well, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anybody outside of um fandom that would say either uconn or nd are "good" teams. Sure a number of people picked both to beat um, but they were blinded by the giddiness of um's last two seasons. uconn lost both starting DE's before the season even started (a good DE is a key in containing a player like Denard), has a bad secondary and a noodle armed qb. Not to mention, a handful of unforced errors stalled promising drives. They're a middle of the pack team in a bad conference. um should win that game.

ND is a team that lost a lot of talent (particularly at the skill positions) and is implimenting a radically new offensive system. Defensively, they still have the same problems they've had for years. I thought it was a tossup and it pretty much came down to that. Nobody can say for sure if things go differently if Crist (who I don't think is all that good anyway) is in there the whole game, but I suspect it does.

You guys should feel good about those two wins. Ultimately, a win is a win. But, I don't think we'll know too much about how good m*ch*g*n really is until msu. A win there, and you're probably on the right path. Lose, and it looks like a repeat of last year is on the horizon. Indiana will not be a pushover either given their offensive talent. I just don't think they'll have the D to keep up.

You guys were in a frenzy after starting 4-0 last year only to be slapped back to reality. I haven't seen anything this season so far to make me feel similar results aren't possible/probable. Your offense will obviously be better (assuming denard stays in one piece), but the defense still has red flags all over it starting with giving up over 530 yards to a nd team that played a pair of awful backup qbs for half of the game.

Indiana was your 4th game last year. In your first, second, and third games, you beat:

- W. Michigan (a MAC team that finished 5-7)
- Notre Dame (finished 6-6)
- E. Michigan (a MAC team that finished 0-12)

Gotta love a UM fan's definition of "rolling."
