2010 TSUN arguments & shenanigans (in-season)

Michigan never talks about it openly. Even before dinging his knee, you could see the carries wearing on him, grimacing and fighting through the pain of 30 collisions a game on a 185 lb frame.

At this point, his confidence & opposing defenses are bigger hindrances than his nagging injuries.

In other words, like many of us foresaw...THUD.

he did have over 100 yards rushing before getting hurt vs Iowa. I'd say he was still producing. He still isn't the passer people thought he was though.

Whether he had 100 yards rushing doesn't matter much when UM only had 7 pts at halftime. That kind of failure rate when it comes to points isn't going to cut it with many teams, and it certainly won't when you've got a defense as bad as UM's.

With all due respect and this is directed mostly to the more voracious and less grounded Michigan fans, it's called a score board for a reason and not a yardage board. Results matter and it really jumps out when you look at the yardage numbers versus their relative ineffectiveness in the red zone. Those two statistics are at odds with each other.

You mean The Beav had nothing to spin about this game? So UM actually got beat and did not beat themsleves by leaving TDs in the quiver? Really? Nothing?

Disappointing.....
Oh, he did. But he's cooled on the "this offense is unstoppable and can just outscore everybody hyperbole" after almost his entire board blasted him for it.

Long story short, they just have to eliminate turnovers (duh) and denard just has to get healthy (that's his new schtick, it's all because denard is banged up). Well, when you have one qb who cannot throw more than 10 yards downfield without running the serious risk of being picked (denard) and another who still shows the same bonehead-INT prone tendancy from last year, that's a lot easier said than done.

He says now he just wants to see them run it a lot more. Well, as Sparty showed, denard can very much be contained if you don't have to worry about the pass. And you don't with him. Plus, if you're gonna rely on him running it 20-30 times a game, he'll never get healthy and may very well get hurt even worse. None of their RBs are legitimate threats. So that whole idea isn't a very solid one, though it may be the better alternative to more denard vs. air ducks quacking through the autumn sky. Tater is way more capable of moving it through the air, but he's also still very much prone to awful mistakes as shown Saturday.

I still think they'll beat State Penn because, well, they're pretty awful and I think denard can gash them on the ground like he did uconn-nd-umass-bg and IU. But, depending on which Scheelhaase shows up, they may have a lot of trouble with Illinois, Purdue is a tossup then Wiscy and tOSU look like bad matchups for them. It'll be interesting because I honestly think he has to get to 8-4 to keep his job. 7-5 with 3 straight losses (by him) to Sparty and tOSU aren't gonna cut it, IMO.

oh I agree. The point was if UM can just eliminate the silly penalties (false starts during a home game are inexcusable) and the INT's, the offense would have been a lot better in the last two games.

It's just like last years osu game, they were able to move the ball pretty well, but were turnover machines.

Is it just me or does it seem like they really struggle once they get into the red zone? Seems like their TDs are always big plays and they just turn it over in the red zone.

I haven't watched all games, that's just based on the small amount of game time I've seen from them.

I don't know the stats, but it seems like they have with turnovers. Also, they are allergic to FGs...

spread teams usually struggle in the red zone because the defense isn't quite as spread out as usual.

The reason Florida didn't was because their best running back had the ball in his hands every snap.

:slappy: their kickers are 2/8 on the season with a "long" of 34 yards.....doesn't get much worse than that
Every team has kicking issues sooner or later, but how you let things get that bad is mind boggling. They literally cannot attempt anything over PAT length with any kind of certainty.

Between that and the state of their defense, they have the biggest bucket of fail in recent memory...

So does scUM when hairlice is in there...difference is Timmah was a bull who could run through/over people, hairlice relies on getting in space which doesn't happen with compressed defenses in the RZ.
