This does have to end, and end now.
Our special teams - an area that Rodriguez prides himself on working with - are pathetic in almost every possible way. We cannot place kick, we cannot defend against runbacks, we've fumbled out of bounds at the 2 when receiving a kickoff... not just the worst special teams at Michigan, but the worst special teams ever.
Our offense: we can rack the points on a weak Bowling Green team, but in the five biggest games of the season, four times the offense was MIA until too late in the game, and today, we only scored one touchdown.
Our defense: just set a record for most points ever allowed, we barely held off Massachusetts and Indiana, and we got crushed by our five biggest opponents. No 1 point losses for us... our closest loss was 10 points... we've recruited very poorly on defense: small and talent-less.
6-18 in the Big 10. 6-18. We are 1-13 against osu, msu, penn st, iowa, wisconsin. We have not beaten one Big 10 team with a winning Big 10 record.
At the games: against Illinois, the attendance was 2,000 less than what we had been drawing. Large numbers of students never showed up, there were multiple empty rows at the top of the stadium in the student section.
In today's post game press conference, in a total classless action, our head coach never once expressed anything for the seniors. He talked about himself quite a lot.
Michigan State is 11-1. We are losing our own state, inconceivable.
The only area of progress: excuse-making. Blaming.
It has to end. It is ludicrous to claim "improvement" because we finally beat illinois 67-65 (65!!!!!!!) and finally beat an inept Purdue team. If the goal is finishing 7th, being a back of the pack Big 10 team, then, Rodriguez has acheived it.
Anyone think as vacancies open up, Miami, West Virginia, anyone is going to want him? Does he have any market value? Auburn and Arkansas are showing very clearly there does not need to be some multi-year transition period. Bo showed that,Mo did, Carr did... you have the right coach who works with the talent he has and can recruit, you can just move on. We've got guy when we've sidelines out of control at times, where our head coach has looked like a deer in the headlights.
It has to end.
