2010 TSUN arguments & shenanigans (in-season)

Time is ticking until the civial war on that board starts.
It has already begun:

Sun noon TJBlog: Recruiting, Team

1. Recruiting
The two official visits are winding down, Frost and Tabb - one guy has met with RR and is heading out, the other is next.
Neither committed, natch.

Re Frost. According to our sources. The thinking has always been that U-M led for Frost, despite Auburn being 6 hours away by car vs U-M's 10.
However, the issue that has popped up for them is -- Coach Rod's future. No surprise since that's filling the press-coverage once again. So it becomes more of a wait-n-see for them.

+++++++++++++

2. Team
The concensus of folks who know more about it than I:
-- U-M ran the 3-3-5 for most of the day, and it certainly didn't work in the form that it was run (no surprise there)
-- next week could be more of the same, it's kind've where things are at right now
-- U-M's O simply HAS to get into gear from the get-go for U-M to be in it vs OSU ... the spread is predicated on having the OTHER team try to keep up with the tempo that is set.

well, the latter would not be "more of the same" IMO

More of the same as in, "OSU is going to run it down our throats" or "We are going to run the 3-3-5 with reckless abandon" ???

Wait so they realized it doesn't work in the current form but they intend no adjustments? Or am I misunderstanding?
what Rich said in the presser is that with all the freshmen it's very difficult to make adjustments week to week

Also IMO if Roh is out and with Martin hobbled that makes it tougher as well, tougher to run stunts/twists, etc.

So we'll see -- they can certainly blitz more or something like that

However, IMO OSU will do exactly what Wisconsin did -- run it -- with T-P running it some too as well as Boom et al.
They didn't make adjustments before those injuries, or when they had a LOT more talent on D last year. The excuses are no longer working on the members of that board.
"That's Great" he is to stubborn to change. this team is set for failure for nother week. Don't expect this guy to win coach of year ever with moves like that!
over-sized up front yet we have no DT's coming in this class so far. :smash: :smash: :smash:
And if Martin decides to escape this madness like Warren did, they'll be left with a converted OL (Quinton Washington) & two redshirt frosh (Ash + Talbott), both of which are major projects with size issues.
The thing that makes little sense is that why would you put the all the responsibility on the back 7 to try to make the plays in a 3-3-5 when that is the area we are small/unathletic/tackle poorly/inexperienced. Blitz Ray Vinopal, but not stick in another DL like Sagesse or even Washington to keep Demens and Mouton clean? Why is Demens playing 2 yards of the LOS basically giving our best run stopper zero chance to make a play. None of these things make any sense and the youth/inexpereince situation is being highlighted by the present scheme. Why?

The more I read from this Beaver guy, the more I think he got all his knowledge of football from playstation. Is this guy for real? I mean, c'mon, calling out Speils for a very accurate assessment of their shitty scheme on D. And does he know that a 3-5-3 is totally different type of personnel than a 3-3-5?

Good lord, why people pay to listen to that jackass I will never know.

I don't know if this belongs in the football discussion thread, or this one. I sense just a tiny bit of mockery, so I decided it goes here.

http://michigandaily.com/content/troy-woolfolk-rise-and-fall-t-woolf?page=0,0

Some highlights
This zone that he would tap into whenever he stepped on the field is actually a trait that is carried down the family line. We’re African American mixed with Native American. The tribe from which my family descends worshipped a powerful creature that rules the night and strikes fear in its potential victims with every howl. This animal is a wolf. The people of my tribe would emulate the wolf lifestyle, copying the way it hunts and travels in packs. Among males in the tribe there was a gene shared only by a few random tribe members.
That night I stayed up for hours pondering what was going on and what happened to me. Then I finally realized — I, too, was blessed with the gene of my family’s ancient tribe. Due to the fact that football is a competitive sport, my body felt as if it was being threatened by the opponent, which triggered the wolf gene to come out. The next day and for the rest of spring ball, my gene became stronger and stronger within me.
When I was in the zone, I took on qualities that no longer paralleled the qualities of the Troy character people previously knew. I personally think this other character is a little crazy. For example, where do you think my paws tattoos came from? I don’t like pain, so that was not my idea. He clearly made that decision. I needed to clear up the confusion so I decided to give the person you see on the field a name, and the name I chose was T-Woolf. T-Woolf is only about two years old now.

for pure comedy purposes....I think this blast from the past requires a repost

i'd love to get this mans current take on the state of scUM football

I think Michigan is going to go 11-2, win the Big Ten outright, and beat Ohio State for the first time since 2003

Lets go through the schdule again:

Utah=Michigan is ten times more talented then the Utes, RR is a much better coach then Kyle Whittingham, RR is not going to let his team lose in his first game as head coach, and the players are going to come out hugely motivated because they don't want to lsoe a second straight season and home opener. Combine these four factors and you ahve a 3 or 4 TD blowout for Michigan.

Miami(OH)=they are an MAC team playing at the big house. This will be a whitewash for the Wolverines

at Notre Dame=the Fightless Irish went 3-9 last season, their head coach sucks, Michigan has outscored ND 85-21 the last two seasons, RR is going to be looking to make a statement in his first game against one of the wolverines rivals, and the players will be fired up after weis said to hell with Michigan. This will be a shutout blowout victory for the Wolverines

Wisconsin=its RR's first experience against against a Big ten team, this is offenses first experience against a defense that is actually good, and the Badgers return 8 of 11 starters on both sides of the ball. The Badgers will eke out a close victory in this one

Illinois=Michigan beat Illinois 27-17 last season in Champagne when the illini had Rashard Mendenhall, and Michigan returns most of its defense. So there's no way the Wolverines will lose to illinois in the Big House when the illini no longer have mendenhall. This will be a 10 point victory again for Michigan.

Toledo=(see miami(oh))

at Penn State=I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Michigan losses this game. However, the Nittney lions never have an answer for our running game, and now that they have lost Sean lee for the season, 2008 will be no different. Our defense has put the clamps on their offense the last two years, and now they lose Rodney Kinlaw and Anthony Morelli, while we return most of our defense, so again, 2008 will be no different. Not to mention we've won 9 straight against them overall, including 4 straight at Happy Valley. we are in their heads, and we will continue to be in 2008. Michigan will gut out a clsoe victory in this game.

Michigan State=I shouldn't even have to bother explaining why Michigan will toast the Fartans in this game

at Purdue=Normally i'd be worried about a trip to West Lafayette, but the Boilmakers have no defense in 2008, and by the 9th game of the season, our offense will be in gear. Not to mention joe tiller is going to be too angry at RR to actually coach a good game. Michigan will win this game by at least 10 points.

at Minnesota=the Wolverines ahven't lost to the golden Gophers on the road since 1977, and Minnesota is comnig of a 1-11 season in which they were last in the nation in total defense. its a rivalry game, so this might not be a blowout, but Michigan will still win it

Northwestern=if this game was at ryan Field, i'd be worried, but the Wildcats never beat us at the Big House. This could be a clsoe game, but Michigan will still get the W.

Here's why we will beat Ohio State:

1. Rich Rodriguez brings an offense to Ann Arbor that Ohio State is absolutely horrible and pathetic at defending: the spread offense. Illinois, Florida, and LSU all tore the Buckeyes a new asshole by running the spread offense on them, and the Buckeyes defense crumbled like toothpicks each time. RR is the God-father of the spread offense, and he's going to find ways to pick apart the weaknesses in Ohio States overrated defense

2. RR is going to be running the spread offense with a bunch of 4 and 5 star prospects, whereas at WV, he was running it with 2 and 3 star prospects. Considering how well he did at WV with that 2 and 3 star talent, imagine how well he's going to do with all the 4 and 5 star talent he has at Michigan

3. Because of all the talent RR has to work with, and because Michigan will be running the spread offense against a team that is horrible at running the spread offense, Michigan is guaranteed at least 21 points in next years game (injuries notwithstanding). Ohio State's offense is one dimensional with beanie Wells, who dominated us last year, but despite that fact, the Buckeyes only scored 14 points. They are going to have to score alot more then 14 points to keep up with Michigans offense, and they can't do that, as their passing game with Todd Boeckman sucks, and as Michigan returns 7 of 11 starters on defense.

4. Motivation. Michigan has a chip on their shoulder after losing 4 straighht to the Buckeyes, while Ohio State is going to get complacent after dominating the rivalry for 7 seasons. It looks more and more like 2001 all over again, where the team that is dominating the rivalry assumes they'll continue to dominate, while the team that is being dominated plays their hearts out and earns a huge upset on the road. Ohio State did it in 2001, and its Michigans turn to do so in 2008

5. Intimidation. Tressell is already sweating at the thought of going up against RR, as he proved by criticizing RR's recruiting schemes. Ohio State's players, coaches, and fans know in the bottom of their hearts that they can't stop RR's spread offense, or any spread offense, and they are petrified at the prospect of having to stop his offense

This might be as inocuous as the normal delusions that go along with being a coddled athlete.

At first blush it looks more like multiple personality disorder.

If it is the latter, we will have a lot of fun with it for awhile. Then it will devolve into something truly ugly and we'll all just turn and walk away.

I think Michigan is going to go 11-2 (3-9), win the Big Ten outright (2-6), and beat Ohio State for the first time since 2003 (not so much LOSS 42-7)

(oops LOSS 25-23)

Miami(OH)=they are an MAC team playing at the big house. This will be a whitewash for the Wolverines (yup whitewash victory 16-6)

at Notre Dame=the Fightless Irish went 3-9 last season, their head coach sucks, Michigan has outscored ND 85-21 the last two seasons, RR is going to be looking to make a statement in his first game against one of the wolverines rivals, and the players will be fired up after weis said to hell with Michigan. This will be a shutout blowout victory for the Wolverines (wHaT?!? LOSS 35-17)

Wisconsin=its RR's first experience against against a Big ten team, this is offenses first experience against a defense that is actually good, and the Badgers return 8 of 11 starters on both sides of the ball. The Badgers will eke out a close victory in this one (good call, wrong team...WIN 27-25)

(another not so good call LOSS 45-20) *Juice gets loose for a stadium yardage record

Toledo=(see miami(oh)) (you really suck at this. seriously a fuckin MAC team? LOSS 13-10)

at Penn State=I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Michigan losses this game. (plunger raped @ happy valley LOSS 46-17)

Michigan State=I shouldn't even have to bother explaining why Michigan will toast the Fartans in this game (Lucy you gat sum 'splainin ta doo LOSS 35-21)

at Purdue=Normally i'd be worried about a trip to West Lafayette, but the Boilmakers have no defense in 2008, and by the 9th game of the season, our offense will be in gear. Not to mention joe tiller is going to be too angry at RR to actually coach a good game. Michigan will win this game by at least 10 points. (guess again LOSS 48-42)

at Minnesota=the Wolverines ahven't lost to the golden Gophers on the road since 1977, and Minnesota is comnig of a 1-11 season in which they were last in the nation in total defense. its a rivalry game, so this might not be a blowout, but Michigan will still win it (that's right bitches!!1!! BARWIS!!!11! win 29-6)

Northwestern=if this game was at ryan Field, i'd be worried, but the Wildcats never beat us at the Big House. This could be a clsoe game, but Michigan will still get the W. (Wilcats in the pig house LOSS 21-14)

RR is the God-father of the spread offense, and he's going to find ways to pick apart the weaknesses in Ohio States overrated defense Actually LSU doesn't really run a spread offense and Illinois ran a zone read...never mind you're a fucking idiot and it wouldn't matter if Bo himself explained to your ignorant ass.

2. RR is going to be running the spread offense with a bunch of 4 and 5 star prospects, whereas at WV, he was running it with 2 and 3 star prospects. Considering how well he did at WV with that 2 and 3 star talent, imagine how well he's going to do with all the 4 and 5 star talent he has at Michigan well now, what happens when he still gets 2* 3* talent and runs off all the 4*5* talent?

:stupid:

4. Ohio State did it in 2001, and its Michigans turn to do so in 2008 Motivation...well the group of seniors for Ohio State in 2008 were definitely MOTIVATED.

5. Intimidation. Tressell is already sweating at the thought of going up against RR, as he proved by criticizing RR's recruiting schemes. Ohio State's players, coaches, and fans know in the bottom of their hearts that they can't stop RR's spread offense, or any spread offense, and they are petrified at the prospect of having to stop his offense Just like almost every prediction this asswipe didn't see a 42-7 fist fucking coming.

That is full of win.:wink2:
