Anyone doubting Tom and the spread theory?

Do any of you guys watch the NFL? The best players in the world and the most popular sport on the USA. If you do then you would know that the NFL is loaded with defensive talent. Big guys who can run and are agile, just flat out amazing athletes. Now, have you guys ever heard of the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts or the New Orleans Saints? What do they have in common? The all run a spread offense, all have a so so defense and they all are recent Superbowl Champs! The point of the game is to score more than your opponent, who ever scores more points wins. Need I say more?

Yep. You read that right. He lumped New England, Indianapolis and New Orleans in with scUM because they run a "spread" offense. You really have to try to be that stupid. Truly amazing.

If Denard Robinson's performance against scum opponents has reminded me of three QBs, it's Brady, Manning and Brees.

What fucking idiots.

Denard isn't quite as athletic as Manning when he runs the Indianapolis zone read but then again, who is?

Honest position coach query/evaluation

**The hacks on Gibby are way-off, plus...** CBs have overperformed this year, compared to expectations, perhaps more than any other unit on the team

Plus, this "conventional wisdom urban myth" that he is "RR's best friend" is nonsense.

Brought to you by the expert who felt UM might have the best CB duo in America heading into 08.

This title appeared on their front page
Tue TJBlog: Kain't help it

Kain't help it

My Oregon obsession continues, since to me they are the new-U model.

A coach-friend tells me the main difference offensively between Oregon and U-M is that the Quackers have the feature-RB (LaMichael James), so their QB doesn't have to by-necessity be their primary/best runner.

Defensively, another friend who knows FB-details better than me says the main difference defensively is that Oregon has 25 athletes on D that they run in and out of there - that's why they look so energetic on D, the guys on the field are always fresh.

And, yet-another friend 'who knows' says, that on the inside, word is that certain good guys think they're a year away from Oregon on O (read: dee Dee), 2 years away on D.

+++++++++++

I say again: watch the first quarter on Saturday ... if the O is clicking in Q1, with a coupla scores, it could be a fun day.
that, with Dee, the U-M O could/should be even-better than Oregons next year BECAUSE of Denard's talents as well ...

... the D may not quite be there yet ...

... but, overall, it could be comparable ...

Then, in 2012, when U-M rockets through that gauntlet of a schedule ... they might just retire "The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National Championship Trophy"
hmmmm, like who ... who is slow and limited

it's more like - extremely inexperienced, and still not enough depth
ksoss2 wrote: For the last three years we have heard about how RRod holds athletic ability and position flexibility in high regard when recruiting. Why does it seem like all of the defensive guys recruited by the staff turn out to be slow and limited?
Limited: Floyd, Talbott, Christian, Teric, Campbell

Slow & Limited: Kovacs, Gordon, Ezeh, Demens, Roh (how he's used), etc.

Experienced, Slow & Limited: Banks, Van Bergen, Sagesse, Williams, Moundros.

But no beaver update is complete without alienating more folks who don't agree with him

a mean-spirited post can't even be answered really, except to name it
gradycn wrote: I'm sure hoping that Marvin is not a Cam clone(other than physically) . Marvin has always been projected as very natural with his instincts, good solid tackler and very athletic. Cam just doesn't have the instincts IMHO but he tries to be very physical
TomBeaver wrote: assuming that Marvin-Cam are sorta-clones, what they're trying to do is try more speed back there at deep-S ... or, I should say, to see if the faster guys can perform
dfdubois wrote: Tom> any view of Marvin Robinson being in the mix at Cam's position? I know on depth chart he's behind Jordan but given his athletisism, seems he could be in running in the deep spot given the challneges there. Coming in, the view was...."Robinson has enough size that some feel he will grow into a LB. His speed would be very attractive there. He is an excellent tackler, particularly in space and he has plus hitting ability. Robinson will need to improve his range to stay at S in college, however he has shown quality instincts and has plenty of athleticism for the position".
...and attacking them for something he would mimic 91 minutes later

Cox still doesn't have his 'football instincts' downpat
Tom, can we just assume that the only way Cox plays this year is if VS, Shaw, Hopkins, Fitz, and T. Jones get hurt? He's getting buried like almost nobody I've ever seen with that kind of talent at Michigan. Carson Butler comes to mind . . .

At this point, where is this kid's head at? Certain transfer?

Fitz isn't the same player physically as he was as a prep right now but still has great field vision. Let's hope he can get healthy at some point.

:slappy: so he is basically saying a guy who has yet to play a down of college football is equal or better than LaMichael James?

Dee Hart is a nice prospect and all....but I dont think he is an elite elite one....this doesn't look to be a very strong RB class (compared to last years)

I also highly doubt that Oregon runs 25 guys in on defense. They may play 25 guys in a 70-0 blowout. But when the game is on the line, no way do 3 guys on the 3rd string play.

Of course, I could be wrong since I haven't watched Oregon play this year.

One more question for the football experts here at BP regarding The Beav's "expert analysis":
What offense with terrible runningbacks would not improve if it added a Heisman type runningback into the mix? I love how it takes a "coach friend" of his to point this out.

(I guess that wasn't the beaver's quote, but still one of the dumbest things I have evar read on the interwebz)

""I say again: watch the first quarter on Saturday ... if the O is clicking in Q1, with a coupla scores, it could be a fun day.""

This prediction cracks me up. RR's offense is always clicking in the first quarter! It's the other three quarters that are problematic.

I know I repeat myself.....but what a fucking moron. As an Ohio State fan I wouldn't ever try to predict us winning the title because soooooo many things have to go right. This jackoff is doing it 3 years in advance, with a team that is fucking awful right now.
