2010 tOSU Wide Receiver Discussion

Honu, I pointed out my reasoning. All you got is a big mouth. Your logic is DNF.

You have shit for reasoning...you spew out nothing but pot-induced ramblings. The fact he didn't catch 50 passes and rack up 1000 yards as a true freshman isn't indicative of his true potential. That he even saw the field as much as he did as a true freshman shows what was ahead for him had he not screwed it up academic-wise.

The old "potential" argument. Every WR on this team has "potential" and many can do things speed wise Carter can't. His only "edge" is his blocking but at the end of the day, you must have more from your starting WRs than blocking ability. This team always has tons of talent waiting to step up and if you screw up your best chance to start your chances go down tremendously. Duane Long doesn't think he'll be back and I tend to agree. And even if he gets back in school he'll be down the depth chart. It's just Ohio State Darwinism in action. Talent all over the place.

Honu why don't you get a life? every time I read shit you say to people it's negative, it's like you're never wrong. I think you need to be more productive with your time, rather than sitting behind a monitor being a online tough guy-know it all. Grow up

You seem to ignore that Carter was the young talent that actually saw the field last year. He was the best young gun we had.

While I slightly agree that Mili (Sorry, its Mili to me) comes across a bit....strong, he usually does it with pretty solid reasoning. The man's not dumb that for sure.

Well, maybe dumb might be reconsidered :wink2:

For the most part the entire recieving corps was young, so I'm not sure how the phrase 'young gun' applies in your mind. Out of the freshman WR's though, yes he was by far the standout IMHO.

Lol, well this has gotten a little out of hand.....

My 2 cents on Carter......

A guy who has a CHANCE to be a good receiver. The fact that he seen the feild and produced more then any other Freshman or Sophomore receiver(with the exception of Posey obviously) should surely stand for something.

He wasn't a lock to be a #1 receiver down the line, and really, no receiver is, but he sure had better chance then any of the other Freshman did.

Will he ever be a Buckeye again? Don't know. Will he ever be a #1 receiver? Don't know. Does he have a snowballs chance at coming back to tOSU and being put into a role where he can contribute? I'd like to think so, and with a class that could possibly lose 3 quality receivers this year, I sure would like him to get at least an opportunity to re-prove himself.

Worse case scenario he rides the pine. But hey, if he's sitting, then at least we have someone better then him on the field.

This is "Wide Receiver U" and we are never at a loss for talent. Yes, Carter beat out the other freshman and second group of receivers LAST YEAR. But that was then and this is NOW. Nothing is static and remains unchanged. The competition he will face if he comes back will be different than the competition he had LAST YEAR. And the competition he will face at Coffeyville is nothing like the competition he would have had here. And the guys here benefit from the higher level of competition and coaching while he's at Coffeyville. Bottom line is he's not going to benefit as much had he been here and that will hurt his development. Add it all up and it doesn't look good for his comeback as a Buckeye. I'm saddened by this but I understand it and the Scarlet Glasses are off.

You don't get anywhere in college football based on a reputation. I'll continue to be worried about our receiver depth until someone steps up and shows they can ball out.
Duron screwed up here but he has a lot of talent and extremely good fundamentals. The fact that he was able to get that number 3 spot here despite his physical development (skinny) speaks volumes about what the future holds for him. I hope he comes back next year and picks up where he left off.
You sound like the Forcier camp, no joke.

Waaaah. You don't like what I post, then don't read it. Do a search on my post and you'll find the vast majority of my posts aren't negative...except for posts towards dipshits. And I don't need some snot-nosed 18-year-old (by the way, Happy Birthday, sonny) telling me how to manage my time.

Back to Carter. He saw the field fairly often as a true frosh not because of his famous legacy dad, but simply because he was good enough.

Well thank you for the birthday wish, but still maybe you shouldent be such a prick to people just because someone didn't put a capital letter in the right place. After all were all on the same side.

And about duron, people chill out. Yes, duron has experience but still we have guys to replace him, washington, brown, Louis, fields, and Jackson. Not to mention guys like stoneburner, and saine to catch passes. We will be fine..

No one doubts we'll be "fine", but many of us know that Duron, on the field at least, was a keeper. He played as a true freshman and played well. Hopefully Duron grows from this and comes back ready to contribute on AND off the field.

I like the article, and it'll be very interesting if Posey leaves early. We have stockpiled a number of WRs though so we should be fine, but this season will show who will step up and is ready for the big time when called on. I'd like to see Fields and Louis on the outside with Brown or Jackson in the slot but who knows. There's a ton of possibilities. A trio of possesion WR and 2 speedsters, i.e.: Ty Williams, Fields with Louis in the slot is also realistic.
