Not sure where this should go, but spring football always has me dreaming during the long day.

Specifically All American candidates on this team, I think this could be a great year for seeing names on this roster in the AP teams.

Boren - OL
Heyward - DL
Homan - LB

Those are the three that I believe have the inside shot right now. Homan didn't get too much press last year but had great stats and should be getting a ton more spotlight overall with this defense.

Heyward has the name recognition and his performance in the Rose Bowl really got this train moving. The announcers seem to gush over him.

Boren - eh. All Big10 guard, probably the top rated senior G for the 2011 draft. This should be all but a lock.

My other sleeper's.

Pryor - He really has to grow. Yes improvement, steady improvement - but honestly just more consistency. He's a big time darkhorse, but personally I think he only has to beat out Mallet and Locker in terms of the QB spot.

Posey - depends on the QB. But he has the tools - the nation saw him during the Rose Bowl and he was near that great 1000 yard mark even with our rather horrid passing game. If he's the first Buckeye reciever with 1000yards in a season since Jenkins, I guarantee his name gets thrown around a few times.

Like I said. This is what I feel. The first three I believe are very close to being listed as pre-season AA. The latter 2 will very much rely on each other and hopefully a great performance against Miami to set it off.

Saturday Kick Scrimmage: What We Learned
By Brandon Castel

COLUMBUS ?After six spring practices at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, the Buckeyes found themselves back in the Horseshoe Saturday for the first time since their overtime win against Iowa last fall.

It wasn?t the spring game, or even the jersey scrimmage, but Saturday?s kick scrimmage is one of those days that stands out from the other practices. Ohio State opened with a shortened practice followed by a mini scrimmage before the kickers, punters and return men took center stage.

The Gray beat the Scarlet 27-24 on a 39-yard field goal by Ben Buchanan, but it wasn?t a banner day for the specialists. Here?s a look at what we learned from today?s scrimmage:

Ahhh, Trevor Matich...

He says we've got a long way to go, he must be right.

He says Alabama's DB's would LOVE to see TP get in their zone and throw his stiffarm, because apparently they don't work against Alabama? I must have missed that part.

Trevor, buckle up, my friend.

Isn't Bama losing something like 8-9 defensive starters??? WTF is he talking about?

That guy is a fat fucking asshole.

Spring depth chart out

Ohio State has its 2010 spring media guide online now, and the depth chart is always an area of interest. You can find it here.

There are not many surprises, but it's informative, nonetheless.

From top to bottom, here's what struck me:

-- Brandon Saine and Boom Herron are listed as co-starters at tailback. Not a shock.

-- Despite missing spring practice for academic reasons, Duron Carter is still listed as one of the top four WRs. Taurian Washington is the other top backup. Numbers 5 and 6 are Chris Fields and James Jackson.

-- Mike Adams is the starting left tackle. I thought for sure we'd get an "OR Andrew Miller" there, based on how Jim Bollman described the competition as wide open. Then again, it's not like the coaches look at the depth chart to determine who should start!

-- Nathan Williams is a DE starter ahead of Solomon Thomas. Last week, Jim Heacock said those two were fighting for the starting job at the "Leo" spot.

-- Melvin Fellows is listed as second-team at a DE spot, ahead of Keith Wells. Not earth-shaking, but Wells does have more experience and another year in the system than Fellows.

-- At safety, Zach Domicone is the backup free safety behind Jermale Hines, and Tyler Moeller is the backup strong safety behind Orhian Johnson. In practice Nate Oliver has been a first-team nickel back a lot, so to see Domicone as a top-four safety was surprising to me.

Some Ohio State tidbits from Columbus
April, 12, 2010
By Adam Rittenberg

My apologies for the tardiness of this post, as I had to get to several other items today. But to answer several of you, I was in Columbus on Friday visiting with Ohio State. I'll take a more in-depth look at Ohio State later this week, but here are some thoughts and tidbits from my trip to central Ohio.

* Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressel had an interesting comment about his team's last two bowl appearances. While most fans wouldn't group the Fiesta Bowl loss to Texas with the Rose Bowl win against Oregon, Tressel doesn't see much difference between how his team performed, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. "A year ago this time, we were coming off a very tough game with Texas, a very good team and really, we played very well," Tressel told me. "Fast-forward a year, and we played against a very good Oregon team. I don't know if we played as well this year in our bowl game as we did a year ago in our bowl game, but we won." Ohio State certainly looked more dominant in the Rose Bowl than the Fiesta, but the competition in Glendale was a little stronger as well.
