Game Thread 2010 Rose Bowl: Ohio State 26 Oregon 17 (Final, 1/01/2010)

Good article on the Ducks' recent football history.

Their glory days are now
Ducks have blazed a unique path into the college elite with flashy offenses, colorful jersey combos and piles of money from Nike's Phil Knight

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Oregon Ducks are a chic football program these days.
Blessed by Nike's largesse, they are on the cutting edge in uniform design, with innovative, ever-changing color schemes.
They are cutting edge on the field, as well. The Ducks' free-wheeling spread offense is the seventh most potent among Football Bowl Subdivision teams. Oregon has averaged 37.7 points this season on its way to an outright Pacific-10 Conference championship and Rose Bowl date against Ohio State on Jan. 1.
The Ducks routinely sell out 54,000-seat Autzen Stadium in Eugene. Ranked seventh in the polls, Oregon has finished in the top 10 of the final rankings three times this decade.
Yes, these are the glory days for the Ducks.
For Oregon fans, it's been a long time coming.

John Saunders posts here.

:chompy:

Well...

...I read some things about suspensions that were posted here, in this thread, days before I heard Saunders say something on ESPN about it...

So my assumption that there was a thread about it somewhere wasn't totally ludicrous was it?

Feel good story.

Rose Bowl: Elder Duck rises toward stardom a nickel at a time | The Ducks Beat - OregonLive.com

EUGENE ? Following practices and games, Will Tukuafu often gathers the many empty bottles and cans in Oregon?s lavish football locker room.

As Tukuafu sees it, one player?s finished bottle of water is five extra cents in his pocket.

?All of my teammates will look at me collecting them and go, ?What are you doing, man??? Tukuafu said. ?But I was raised like this and I?m never going to change. My wife and I are always recycling bottles and cans. We just got 12 bucks from them the other day. That?s a lot of money right there.?

As a starting senior defensive end for the Rose Bowl-bound Ducks, Tukuafu has gotten used to the numerous perks that come with being an Oregon athlete. At 6-foot-4 and 262 pounds, Tukuafu?s strong play this season has him poised to experience more luxuries next year in the NFL.

But even as the free Nike cleats stack up in his state-of-the-art locker, Tukuafu never forgets where he came from.

oregon fan here. must say its gonna be a killer, but hey you guys might actually have a chance not having to worry about the big bad sec this year

Where are the elitist p_ricks when you need them?

No doubt, they are hanging out in their secret lair, sipping egg nogg out of crystal tumblers and puffing out thick smoke from their expensive Cuban cigars as they LOL about us common folks left out here in the cold...

schedule of Pre Rose Bowl events?

tOSU football team is arriving today at Hyatt Regency (Century City Plaza) today.

Is there a schedule of other pre Rose Bowl events, like

- Disneyland Tour (Dec 26?)

- pep rally at Universal Studios

- Lawry's Beef Bowl dinner

- Press Day at Beverly Hilton

What about OSU alumni events, all over Los Angeles?

Back in 2008 Rose Bowl (where U. of Illinois went to Rose Bowl), all the above was publicly available on UIUC Athletic Dept website. Can't seem to find anything similar for tOSU in 2010 Rose Bowl.

Tailgate party prior to ROse Bowl game is pretty awesome. You can get some good ticket deals at halftime roaming around the parking lot. I got a good seat (near 50yd line) for $20, when Texas played Michigan a few yrs back. (2005 Rose Bowl)

BTW, go OSU!!!
